Sandra Elizabeth Nelson was born May 27, 1937, in Wray, Colorado to John and Hilda (Mahoney) Vibber and departed this life on April 29, 2024, at the South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, Nebraska. &nbsp;She was 86 years old.

Sandra was united in marriage to Bernard Nelson in Raton, New Mexico, on April 6, 1955. &nbsp; They had one child, Jerry Lee. &nbsp; They resided on the Nelson family farm for 66 years. During many of those years she worked side by side with her husband, farming, driving truck and tending to the cattle. &nbsp;In 2021, they sold the farm and moved to Imperial, Nebraska.

Sandra had many talents. &nbsp;She was a seamstress and made many of her own clothes. &nbsp;She loved to quilt and was a member of the Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild. &nbsp; Many of her beautiful quilted creations have been handed down to family. &nbsp;She in later years took up knitting and made many prayer shawls for those with illnesses. &nbsp;She also made many lap blankets and baby blankets for friends and family. &nbsp;She was a member and very active in the United Methodist Church.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard; her son, Jerry; sisters Maxine Reckard and Dawala Hansen; and brothers, Larry Vibber and Jerry Vibber.&nbsp;

Survivors include: daughter-in-law, Debra Nelson (Randy) Crist of Ceresco, Nebraska; grandson, Zachary (Marian) Nelson of San Diego, California and granddaughter, Alyson Nelson of Wahoo, Nebraska; 3 great-grandchildren; Serenity Ray and Raelyn Nelson of Wahoo, Nebraska and Ilana Nelson of San Diego, California; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning, May 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Imperial, Nebraska with Pastor Loy officiating. &nbsp; Inurnment followed at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.

&nbsp;Memorial, in Sandra’s Memory, has been suggested to the Donor’s Choice.

David T. Mullen of Tampa, Florida passed away January 1, 2024 from complications of renal cell carcinoma. &nbsp;

He was born June 7, 1975 to David B. and Jonna L. Mullen in Sacramento, California at Mather AFB Hospital. &nbsp;The family moved to North Platte in September 1975. &nbsp;He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School with the Class of 1994.

David worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, later moving to Austin, Texas and finally Tampa.

David is pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents, Gerlad (Beth) Mullen and his maternal grandparents, John (Nina) Bass.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Karina and their 4-year-old son, Truett John of Tampa; father, David B. Mullen, Deming, New Mexico; mother and step-father, Lynn (Stuart) McConnell, North Platte; sister, Laura (Trevor) Morey, Dunedin, New Zealand; and 3 nieces in New Zealand.

Cremation was chosen. &nbsp;A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Jean Anderson officiating.

David Truett Mullen (1975-2024)

Karen (Mawhinney) Buckley, 74, of Arnold, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, in her home. A mother of seven, grandmother of 26, and great-grandmother of 15, Karen leaves behind a large loving family, including her devoted and loving husband of 36 years, Don.&nbsp;

Born in Winner, SD, in August 1949, Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Lou Ann (Olmsted) &amp; Buddy Haley, and Lee &amp; Anne Mawhinney, a daughter, Robin Clay, and her first husband, Dennis Thomas.

She is survived by her husband Don of Arnold – children Donnell Buckley of Lincoln, NE Denise Thomas of Burwell, NE, Lisa (Dave) Geil of Casper, WY, LuRee (Tom) Keefover of Linwood, KS, Keith (Stephanie) Thomas of Queen Creek, AZ, Kory (Julie) Thomas of Kalamazoo, MI, grandchildren – Josh Benne, Tom (Amanda) Clay, Tyler (Alyssa) Clay, Kaylynn Buckley, Brianna (Taylor) Eagan, Jake (Manuela) Benne, Jared Benne, DJ (Miranda) Buckley, Jake (Shayla) Geil, Shelby Johnson, Joe Geil, Lake Reikofski, Randii Reikofski, Drew Thomas, Sage Keefover, Justin Thomas, Zane Keefover, Trey Keefover, Jase Keefover, Greyson Thomas, Hayden Thomas, and 15 amazing great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters – Tami (Mel) Denio and Michelle (Larry) Littau, and two brothers – Clayton (A) Haley and Kevin (Kim) Haley.

Karen and Don have traveled the country, from coast to coast, before settling back into their Midwestern roots in Arnold.

Karen’s love for children was always so evident, and she never missed a grand or great-grandchild's birthday. And when none of her own grandkids were around, she was known to hand out popsicles and cookies to the neighborhood kids walking down the street because their smiles brought her so much joy.

Services in honor of Karen’s wonderful life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at the Arnold Community Center in Arnold, NE where we’ll follow a memorial with a reception with refreshments and conversation. Karen Buckley (1949-2024)

Dwight Alan Hatch, age 80, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2024 at his home, surrounded by family.

Dwight was born on May 16, 1943 in Stratton, Nebraska to Kelham and Mildred Hatch. He will be remembered as a skilled educator, compassionate counselor, and devoted foster parent, who touched countless lives with his compassionate ear and wise counsel. He left an indelible mark on his family and generations of learners.

Dwight cherished spending time with family and friends, and his presence brought joy to all who knew him. He enjoyed family gatherings, expressing his creative outlet in woodworking, camping and fishing, and a love of classic cars and motorcycles. Dwight was always known for his calm demeanor and sage advice. He was the consummate straight man in his 62-year partnership with his wife, Bea. He was the Dean Martin to her Jerry Lewis, the George to her Gracie.

Born with a natural gift for teaching and a heart overflowing with empathy, he brought passion and creativity into the classroom, instilling not only knowledge but a deep sense of curiosity in his students. Beyond the confines of the classroom, Dwight extended his caring nature to serve as a counselor and foster parent, forever changing the trajectory of many lives for the better. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Calvin Wayne Evans, age 92, of Ansley and lifelong resident of Custer County passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at his home. Calvin was born on November 13, 1931, northeast of Broken Bow, NE to Wayne and Maude (Loyd) Evans. Calvin served over 2 years in the Marine Corps. Upon returning home Calvin worked construction for several years. In 1957 he married Frances Hoblyn and to that union, 3 children were born. Wade, Kent, and Tami were raised on their farm northeast of Mason City where they raised cattle, had horses and a wide variety of pets.

&nbsp;Calvin is survived by his wife of 67 years Frances (Hoblyn), two sons, Wade (Susan) Evans of Kearney, Kent (Sue) of Mason City, and a daughter Tami (Jim Boyles) of Mason City; grandchildren Darcie Campbell (Mark), Katie McCarthy (Jake), Janie Evans, and Jade Evans; great-grandchildren Cruz, Ryan, Cameron, Annie, and Cash.

Calvin Evans (1931-2024)

Marilyn Roberta (Talbot) Shinn passed away on April 29, 2024, at the age of 90, at Brookstone View in Broken Bow, Nebraska, surrounded by members of her family.

Marilyn was born January 22, 1934, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Orin H. and Bertini (Joyner) Talbot. She grew up with three brothers: Charles, Tom, and Ted. Upon Graduation from Broken Bow High School in 1952 (she was voted by her class as “most likely to win the Indianapolis 500”), Marilyn attended the Colorado Women’s College in Denver Colorado and then finished her schooling at the University of Nebraska where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Marilyn taught in the Broken Bow School system for one year before getting married and moving to the Sandhills.

It was on a blind date that Marilyn met the love of her life, Richard F. Shinn. They were married on September 3, 1955, and to that union four boys were born who enjoyed growing up in the Sandhills along the Middle Loup River. She worked side-by-side with Richard in growing their business, Shinn Turkeys, Inc. She was also a great sport and hung right in there with the adventurous boys who never failed to keep her life “interesting.” Her patience was plentiful and so were the stories of their escapades. She should have authored a book.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Orin and Bertini (Joyner) Talbot, brother Charles Talbot, brother Thomas Talbot, great-grandson Marlowe Shinn and several angel great grandbabies.

She is survived by: Husband-Richard Shinn of Broken Bow; Children-Douglas Shinn (Ann Marie) of Dunning, Michael Shinn (Brenda) of Kearney, Bruce Shinn (Noreen) of Sterling, Virginia, and Bradley Shinn (Julie) of Broken Bow; Grandchildren-Mary Roxbury (Tyler) of Lincoln, Andrew Shinn (Donnita Jimmis) of Dunning, Riley Weir (Drew) of Kearney, Nolan Shinn (Katherine) of Kearney, Jordan Shinn (Whitney) of Gretna, &nbsp;Bethany Micek (Nelson) of Lincoln, Christina Mendyk (Kyle) of Lincoln, Grant Longoria-Shinn (Felipe) of Lincoln; 19 great-grandchildren; Brother-Ted Talbot (Debbie) of Valrico, FL; Sister-In-Law Mary Virginia Talbot of Omaha; Niece-Erin Branca (Dan) of Lithia, FL; Nephews-Craig Smith of &nbsp;Santa Barbara, CA, and Jim Smith of Colorado Springs, CO.

Marilyn enjoyed taking part in grandchildren’s activities, visiting, gardening, art, playing the piano, and nature.

Memorials in memory of Marilyn are suggested to the Blaine County Area Community Foundation Fund, or the Custer County Foundation.

Services for Marilyn will be held later to be decided by the family.

Jeremy was raised and attended school in Merna. The family later moved to Berwyn, where Jeremy attended school in Broken Bow, later receiving his GED, then receiving a degree in Welding. Jeremy worked in Construction, building homes for Habitat for Humanity in Grand Island, NE, and then worked as a fabricator at Dewey Welding in Merna. Jeremy was supportive of anyone who needed help.

Jeremy enjoyed 4-H, camping, fishing, hunting, pickup trucks, carpentry work, mechanical work, and cutting wood with his family. Family was important to him. He was proud of his own Black Angus bull and cows.

Born on September 1, 1960, in Imperial, NE, to Glen and Billie Hayes, Billie's early years were marked by a strong sense of community and dedication to helping others. She graduated from Chase County Schools in 1978 and soon after began her career at Imperial Manor in 1983. Her unwavering commitment to excellence led her to retire as the Environmental Services Supervisor in March after four decades of service.&nbsp;

Billie was not only known for her professional achievements but also for her love of hobbies such as crocheting, gardening, and playing board games and card games with her family. She was a devoted supporter of her loved ones, always ready to lend an ear or offer advice. In addition to her career at Imperial Manor, Billie also served as a volunteer EMT for 41 years and shared her knowledge by teaching EMS classes throughout Southwest Nebraska and the panhandle for over 29 years. &nbsp;Billie was also recently awarded the Imperial Citizen of the Year Award for calendar year 2023 for her outstanding commitment to serving her community throughout her life. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Delmar Dean VanCura, 81 of Ogallala, passed away Monday, April 29th, 2024 at Maples of Centennial in North Platte, NE, surrounded by family. Delmar was born April 19th, 1943 to Henry &amp; Lola (Lee) VanCura. Delmar attended Ogallala Public Schools and was a life long Ogallala resident.

Delmar and Deanna Casey were married in Oshkosh, NE on August 12th, 1969. This marriage continued for the next 53 years. Delmar worked for various employers over the years, including the Hi-Line Co-Op in Grant, City of Ogallala, Best Western, and Walmart all of Ogallala. Delmar enjoyed fishing, garage selling, camping, auctions, gambling with his wife, and most importantly - being Santa.

Delmar is survived by 4 of his children, Daniel VanCura, AJ Reimers, Leanne VanCura, and Lori Watts, 14 Grandchildren, and 26 Great Grandchildren. Delmar is preceded in death by his wife, Deanna VanCura, parents, son, Andrew VanCura, and 1 Grandson.

Delmar Dean VanCura (1943-2024)

Orville Dean Thompson Jr. known as Dean peacefully entered his heavenly home on April 27, 2024, from Indian Hills Manor, Ogallala, NE, where he had been tenderly cared for since October, 2023, when he could no longer live on his beloved ranch of 77 years.

Dean was born on February 15, 1926, to Orville Dean Thompson and Lena F. (Kruger) Thompson and came home to their ranch in McPherson County, joining his older sister Evelyn. The most important event of his life came at 11 years of age when he gave his life to his Lord Jesus and was baptized in Center Valley Lake. He only left the ranches of Arthur and McPherson County for his 18-month service to the nation in the Philippines and Japan during the end of World War II. The second most important event of his life occurred when he married Doris Jean Tiffany on August 24, 1947, and they set out on their life together on the ranch.

Besides ranching, Dean's life was centered on his service to God through the churches of Center Valley and Arthur Baptist Churches and to the surrounding communities. This included short-term mission assignments in Haiti and Bacone College in OK, serving as president of the American Baptist Men of NE and in various other roles within the American Baptist USA denomination, and contributions within the Gideons International. He fulfilled his community duties by serving as County Commissioner and on various school boards and Farm Bureau offices. His greatest ranch enjoyment was haying, and he took great pride in all his building projects throughout the community. Dean's creativity blessed many with his poetry, his book, Ninety Years on Short Grass and Sand, his article writing in the local papers and his woodworking projects.

Dean is survived by his children, Barbara Jean (Pat) Golden Perone; Sandra Deanne (Chuck) John; Brian Dean (Jerri); grandchildren Brian (Karen) Perone; Laura Golden; Thomas (Stacey) Perone; Jennifer (Warren) Mertz; Tiffany (Matthew Quinn) John; Bethanie (Kyle Reinhard) John; Drew Jetter; great-grandchildren Anna Perone, Logan Perone, Colin Perone, and Nathan Perone; sisters-in-law Helen Thompson and Doris Elaine Tiffany; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and scores of friends and neighbors. Orville "Dean" Thompson (1926-2024)

Marilyn&nbsp;Simon&nbsp;Mulligan peacefully passed away at the Sutherland Care Center on April 25, 2024, at the age of 97.

Marilyn was born June 12, 1926, to Francisco and Margarita Reyes in Windsor, CO. &nbsp;She grew up in the Sutherland and Hershey area with her brothers and sisters.

In 1956, Marilyn married Joseph Simon of North Platte and they had two daughters, Lesa and Elaine. &nbsp;After Joe passed away in 1989, she married Billy Mulligan of Hershey in 1992.

Marilyn was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years in North Platte for St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Takenaga, Dr. Nakamura, People's Family Health Services and West Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging. &nbsp;She was the quintessential care giver.

Along with her first husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Juan-Manuel, Joe, Manual (Inez) Frank (Evangeline), Moses (Pat) and Ralph; sister, Carmen Vieyra; and brothers-in-law, Johnny Vieyra, Vidal Navarro and Roger Peckham.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 31 years, Bill Mulligan of North Platte; daughters, Lesa (Craig) Kautz of Hastings and Elaine (Randy) Lenz of Maywood and stepdaughter, Billie Freihage of North Platte; grandchildren, Jordan (Dara) Kautz and Jed (Erin) Kautz and step-grandchildren, Christy (Jesse) Augustin and Shane (Kelsie) Freihage and Darcy, Stacy and Torey Lenz; 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joseph (Hope), Larry (Ruthie) and Carlos; sisters, Hope Navarro, Rose Peckham, Esmeralda (Bill) Michael and Jessica (Doug) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Janie Reyes and Griselda Reyes; many nieces, nephews, other family and her friends.

 </figure>Marilyn&nbsp;Simon&nbsp;Mulligan peacefully passed away at the Sutherland Care Center on April 25, 2024, at the age of 97.Marilyn was born June 12, 1926, to Francisco and Margarita Reyes in Windsor, CO. &nbsp;She grew up in the Sutherland and Hershey area with her brothers and sisters.In 1956, Marilyn married Joseph Simon of North Platte and they had two daughters, Lesa and Elaine. &nbsp;After Joe passed away in 1989, she married Billy Mulligan of Hershey in 1992.Marilyn was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years in North Platte for St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Takenaga, Dr. Nakamura, People's Family Health Services and West Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging. &nbsp;She was the quintessential care giver.Along with her first husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Juan-Manuel, Joe, Manual (Inez) Frank (Evangeline), Moses (Pat) and Ralph; sister, Carmen Vieyra; and brothers-in-law, Johnny Vieyra, Vidal Navarro and Roger Peckham.Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 31 years, Bill Mulligan of North Platte; daughters, Lesa (Craig) Kautz of Hastings and Elaine (Randy) Lenz of Maywood and stepdaughter, Billie Freihage of North Platte; grandchildren, Jordan (Dara) Kautz and Jed (Erin) Kautz and step-grandchildren, Christy (Jesse) Augustin and Shane (Kelsie) Freihage and Darcy, Stacy and Torey Lenz; 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joseph (Hope), Larry (Ruthie) and Carlos; sisters, Hope Navarro, Rose Peckham, Esmeralda (Bill) Michael and Jessica (Doug) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Janie Reyes and Griselda Reyes; many nieces, nephews, other family and her friends.

The guest book may be signed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore. Services will be held at Thursday, May 2, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. &nbsp;Rosary service will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Celebrant Father Jonathan Sorensen. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow at Ft. Eugene Alan Waterman, age 71, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, at his home in Ogallala.&nbsp;

Eugene was born July 15, 1952, in Grant, NE to Kenneth and Esteline (Lovenburg) Waterman.&nbsp;

Eugene grew up in Southwest Nebraska and then moved to Fort Morgan, CO in 1969. After graduating from Fort Morgan High School in 1971, he married Dixcie Slade of Bird City, Kansas. Eugene and Dixcie continued living in Fort Morgan where they were blessed with three children; Shana, David, and Michelle.&nbsp;

Eugene moved back to Grant in 1997 where he worked for CO-OP’s in the area driving trucks. He later worked for Flemming Farms driving harvest trucks. In 2000 he met and married Jeannette Kohler.&nbsp;

After retirement, Eugene became an avid pool player achieving a plaque honoring 500 games played in his leagues. Eugene and his team also made it to the finals tournaments in Vegas two different times. Eugene was well known in the area as the “Melon Man” due to his hobby of driving across the plains to the Melon Capitol, bringing back juicy melons for all to enjoy.&nbsp;

Eugene is survived by Shana (Bryan) Martin of Weldona, CO; David (Carole) Waterman of Ogallala; Michelle Waterman (Clifford Joyce) of Jacksonville, FL; Sisters Donna Carey of Brule, Darlene Waterman of Grant, Dianna (Nick) McCleary of Venango, Brother Jim (Amy) Waterman of Windsor, CO; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette in 2020; his parents; one brother, Donald Waterman; and one brother-in-law, Dean Carey.&nbsp;

Larry Hardy age 83 of Seneca, NE passed away on April 19, 2024, at The Maples at Centennial in North Platte, NE.

Larry Clinton Hardy was born December 26, 1940, in Alliance, NE to Clinton and Gentry (Burton) Hardy. Larry grew up in the Seneca area and attended grade school in Seneca, then attended high school at Thedford High School.

On February 5, 1962, Larry was united in marriage to Nina Ann Murphy in Julesburg, CO. After getting married the couple ranched in the Seneca area, then sold the ranch in the early 80’s. Larry drove truck for many years and had his trucking company Hardy Trucking and did carpentry work with his son Bo as Universal Contractors. The couple lived in various places, Merna, Brady, and Arnold, and in 1996 they returned to Seneca.

Larry’s greatest love was being a musician, he played the guitar and sang. He gave private lessons helping people get started in music. Larry played many benefits and County Fairs, even opening for Lori Morgan and Neil McCoy. Larry played with Roger McGooden in Larry's band Blue Ribbon Country.&nbsp;

Larry is survived by his wife Nina of Seneca, daughter Gennie (Ryan) Smith of Tryon, son Bo Hardy of Seneca, 11 grandchildren Tisha Jo, Tiffany, Eli, Aevyn, Elly, Gabby, Maddox, Amber, Ashley, Joshua, and James, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Hardy in 2010, three brothers Burton, Robert, and John, and a grandson Trent Hardy.

&nbsp; Delorse Baney departed this life at 101 years of age on November 13, 2023 at Cappella Assisted Living in Pueblo, Colorado.

Delorse Aleen Baney was born February 3, 1922 to Norma (Havens) and Perry Guycle Glendenning at the Daniel Havens home in Keya Paha County, Nebraska. After graduating from Keya Paha County High School in 1940, Delorse then graduated from Normal Teachers Training and taught school for 5 years. Her last 2 years were in Dundy County where she met her husband, Dale Baney. On August 14, 1944, Delorse and Dale were married in Ainsworth, Nebraska. To this union five children were born: Guycle William, Richard Dale, Dalend Ray, Rockie Dee, and Dayla Aleen. In 1947, they made their home on a farm 14 miles north of Benkelman, Nebraska where they lived for 30 years. They retired in Wauneta, Nebraska until Dale’s death in 1990; then she moved to Oklahoma in 1991 and Colorado in 2005 to be closer to her children.

Delorse was a woman of unwavering faith and strong character, striving each day to glorify her Lord and Savior in word and deed. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a loyal friend. Delorse loved being a homemaker, “it was never work”, and with the heart of a teacher, was always reading, studying, and sharing with others what she was learning. At the age of 88, she taught middle and high school art students to crochet at Patriot Learning Center in Falcon, Colorado. As a lifelong letter writer, Delorse sent hand written notes of encouragement to others right up to the time of her passing.

Delorse was preceded in death by husband, Dale; parents, PG and Norma Glendenning; sister, Margaret (Gerald) Brown; brother, Ingle Glendenning; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma Jean Glendenning, Elila Whitehead, Velma (Max) Cline, Leta (Junior) Andres, Bonnie (Delbert) Nelson, Evertt Baney, Billie Baney, Wilford Hansen, Lyle Hansen, Ed Zimbelman; and two step great-grandchildren.

Delorse Baney (1922-2023)

Karen Muldoon, age 69, of Oshkosh passed away on April 3, 2024, at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, following a brief illness.

A Celebration of Life honoring Karen will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, 11:00 a.m. MST, at Lewellen Community Wesleyan Church, Lewellen, NE, with Reverend Bruce Neal officiating. &nbsp;

She was born on November 21, 1954, in Denver, Colorado to James Kenneth Harvey and Jean Elaine Cheney Harvey. &nbsp;She joined big sister, Susan, and welcomed little sister, Carol Jean.

She grew up in Denver and attended George Washington High School, University of Colorado at Boulder, Metropolitan State College of Denver, and obtained her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from University of Phoenix.

She was married to Bryan Muldoon in 1975 at St. James Catholic Church in Denver. &nbsp;To this union identical twin boys Brendan and Patrick were born in 1979. &nbsp; &nbsp;The couple raised their boys in and around the Denver/Englewood area and were later divorced.

Karen taught school for Englewood Public Schools, in Colorado for 28 years, with her emphasis on kindergarten. &nbsp;At one point she taught 3rd grade, but her passion was with those kids who were just starting out. &nbsp;She adored teaching school and made her classrooms fabulous, home-like environments that so many preschoolers longed to be in. &nbsp;She even organized a Thanksgiving celebration one year which included the entire school and became a lasting tradition.

She fulfilled her dream of becoming a children's author when she wrote and published two books, Alphabet Family Wedding and Small p Goes to Paris. &nbsp;Also a talented artist, Karen did the illustrations for the Small p book.

In 2005 she went to live in an extended family situation with her sister, Carol Jean and her tribe. &nbsp;8 people lived together in a large house in southeast Aurora, Colorado. Many wonderful times were had celebrating holidays, birthdays, daily life, and other occasions.

Karen retired in 2016, and in 2021, she moved to Oshkosh, Nebraska, to enjoy "the good life" with her sister, brother-in-law, and other Cheney family members. &nbsp;Having a flair for decorating, she turned her basement apartment into an adorable sanctuary for herself and cat friend, Ringtail.

Karen is survived by her son, Brendan Muldoon and wife, Claudia, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. &nbsp;her sister Carol Jean (CJ) Dunhill and brother-in-law, Allen Dunhill of Oshkosh, NE. &nbsp;Daughter in law, Rhiannon Fox Muldoon of Upland, CA. &nbsp;Granddaughter, Elaine Muldoon of Lebanon, PA. &nbsp;Nephew, Anthony Dunhill of Aurora, CO. &nbsp;Niece and family, Scarlett, Jason, and Aidan Cosentino of Aurora CO. &nbsp;Grand-niece Crystal Cosentino and long time boyfriend, Logan Evans of Aurora, CO. &nbsp; She also leaves behind a very special cat friend, Ringtail, and many other relatives.

Karen Muldoon (1954-2024)

Marlin D. Spellmeyer, 85, of Ogallala, Nebraska, began his journey with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. He passed away surrounded by loved ones at Rocky Mountain Assisted Living in Centennial, Colorado.

Marlin was born November 24, 1938, in Elm Creek, Nebraska to Kenneth and Helen (Cepel) Spellmeyer.&nbsp; He graduated in 1956 from Elm Creek High School and received his undergraduate degree from Kearney State Teachers College in 1960.&nbsp; Marlin married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Jilg on August 24, 1958. They moved to California where Marlin attended Pepperdine University and earned his Master’s Degree in Education.&nbsp; He and Mary Ann were blessed with 2 children: Kenneth and Tiffany.&nbsp; Mary Ann preceded him in death in 1974.&nbsp; Marlin met and married Jackie Knight and blended their families, making their home in Huntington Beach, California until 1979 when Marlin accepted the principal position at Ogallala Junior High School.&nbsp; He was instrumental in the transition of the Ogallala Junior High School (grades 7-9) to the Ogallala Middle School (grades 6-8).&nbsp; He then proceeded to lead efforts with other educational professionals in Nebraska to form the Nebraska Association for Middle-Level Education (NAMLE), an organization dedicated to a better understanding of the educational needs of the young adolescent, and the growth of middle-level education throughout the State of Nebraska. His work in and passion for middle-level education earned him the honor of the NSASSP’s Middle School Principal of the Year, awarded to him in 2000, as well as the NSASSP Distinguished Service award, awarded to him in 2002.

When Marlin was not dedicating his time to his profession, he found great joy in using his beautiful singing voice and talents to call square and round dances. He was well-known throughout the central and mid-western region for his smooth voice and calling techniques, oftentimes sharing the stage and harmonizing with his wife Jackie, a unique niche in the industry. For 33 years, he took pride in assisting with his wife Jackie’s operation of the traveling retail apparel shop, J&amp;M Square Dance Apparel. He very much treasured the long-time friendships gained and fun times spent with fellow square dancers and square dance callers alike.

Marlin’s hobbies centered around square and round dancing, square dance calling, traveling with the square dance shop, camping, Nebraska athletics, and searching for antiques at auctions and antique shops wherever he and Jackie’s travels would take them. His later years found him watching and enjoying Nebraska football, volleyball, and basketball. As a huge fan of the Colorado Rockies baseball, he wouldn’t miss a game unless untelevised. In August 2023&nbsp;his wish to attend a Colorado Rockies game was granted, thanks to the Colorado chapter of the Twilight Wish Foundation. Honoring Marlin for his work in education and many years of service as a middle school principal, the Foundation made it possible for Marlin and his family and caretakers to attend the Chicago White Sox game at the Rockies’ stadium.

Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary Ann Spellmeyer, second wife Jackie Spellmeyer in 2019, and an infant brother Kenneth Jr.&nbsp; Marlin is survived by son Kenneth (Debra) Spellmeyer of Broomfield, CO, daughter Tiffany DiMartino of Englewood, CO, granddaughters Kylee (Aaron) Schoen of Filley, NE, and Cassandra (Derrick) Wells of Alliance, NE, 2 great-grandchildren Kenley and Kace Schoen, step-daughter Gayle Griffin of Pueblo, CO, step-son John Bardeen of Bull Shoals, AR, 2 step-grandchildren Ashleigh Griffin and MSgt Michael “Kaleb” (Jessica) Griffin, USAF, 5 great step-grandchildren Bianca, Eric, Catarina, Tyler and Winnie Griffin, sister Mavis Tvrdy of Ralston, NE, and nieces and nephews.

He passed away surrounded by loved ones at Rocky Mountain Assisted Living in Centennial, Colorado.Marlin was born November 24, 1938, in Elm Creek, Nebraska to Kenneth and Helen (Cepel) Spellmeyer.&nbsp; He graduated in 1956 from Elm Creek High School and received his undergraduate degree from Kearney State Teachers College in 1960.&nbsp; Marlin married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Jilg on August 24, 1958. They moved to California where Marlin attended Pepperdine University and earned his Master’s Degree in Education.&nbsp; He and Mary Ann were blessed with 2 children: Kenneth and Tiffany.&nbsp; Mary Ann preceded him in death in 1974.&nbsp; Marlin met and married Jackie Knight and blended their families, making their home in Huntington Beach, California until 1979 when Marlin accepted the principal position at Ogallala Junior High School.&nbsp; He was instrumental in the transition of the Ogallala Junior High School (grades 7-9) to the Ogallala Middle School (grades 6-8).&nbsp; He then proceeded to lead efforts with other educational professionals in Nebraska to form the Nebraska Association for Middle-Level Education (NAMLE), an organization dedicated to a better understanding of the educational needs of the young adolescent, and the growth of middle-level education throughout the State of Nebraska. Marlin D Spellmeyer (1938-2024)

Dr. Merlin Albert “Al” Vannice, 81, of Boalsburg, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born January 11, 1943, in Broken Bow, NE, he was the son of the late Duane M. and Eugenia Ruby Farmer Vannice. &nbsp;He spent most of his childhood growing up in a small ranch outside Halsey, NE where he attended high school (19 students) through 11th&nbsp;grade. &nbsp; He then went to East Lansing, MI for his senior year and then to Michigan State University where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1964. &nbsp;Al migrated west to California to obtain his MA and PhD from Stanford University in 1966 and 1968, respectfully. &nbsp;Upon completion of his doctorate, he embarked on a 15-month postdoctoral position at Sun Oil Company in Marcus Hook, PA. &nbsp;The most important occurrence there was meeting his future wife, Bette Ann Clark.

They were married on January 2, 1971, and after a 6-week honeymoon to the West Coast and Hawaii, they both began jobs at Esso Oil (now Exxon) in Linden, NJ. Having an unfulfilled desire to teach, he began an appointment as associate professor at Pennsylvania State University in the fall of 1976. &nbsp;Al was promoted to full professor in 1990. &nbsp;In addition, Al received the College of Engineering Research Award in 1982, the title of Distinguished Alumni Professor as well as the College of Engineering Premier Research Award in 1986, the title of Distinguished Professor of Engineering in 1991, the M.R. Fenske Professor of Chemical Engineering in 1996 and in 2002 was appointed the W. H. Joyce Chair in Chemical Engineering, which position he held until his retirement in 2006.&nbsp;

Dr. Vannice belonged to ACS, AIChE, had served first as Secretary and then as Director of the New York Catalysis Society, Director of the&nbsp;Pittsburgh-Cleveland Catalysis Society,&nbsp;and had served on the Board of Directors of, as the Vice-President of, and then as President of the North American Catalysis Society. He spent seven years as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Catalysis, and continued to serve on its Editorial Board.

During his tenure at PSU, Al presided over 26 M.S. and 32 PhD theses, published over 230 papers, was granted 9 patents, and wrote a book. &nbsp;He and Bette Ann enjoyed 4 sabbatical leaves: CNRS in Orleans, France (1982-83); at the KFA in Jülich, Germany (1990) on a Humboldt Sr. Scientist Award; the University of Munich in Munich, Germany via a Fulbright Sr. Award and Humboldt Revisitation award; and finally, the University of Alicante, Alicante, Spain (2003-04) where he wrote his textbook “Kinetics of Catalytic Reactions”.

External to Penn State, Al was awarded the New York Catalysis Society Award in 1985, the AIChE Professional Progress Award in 1986, the Catalysis Society Emmett Award in 1987, and the Pittsburgh-Cleveland Catalysis Society Award in 1988.

When he wasn’t involved with university work, he enjoyed fishing, reading, and antique classic cars, owning 16 at one time.

As a consequence of his research, Al was privileged to visit numerous foreign countries including Korea, China, Japan, and most European countries. &nbsp;At least once a year, Bette Ann would prepare a big meal for all of his graduate students and post-doc research groups, which they always enjoyed.

Al is survived by his wife, Bette Ann; his brother Eugene Vannice; 4 nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Broken Bow Cemetery, in Broken Bow Nebraska.&nbsp;

Dr. Merlin "Al" Vannice (1943-2024)

Daryl Aaron Brown, 74, of Brule, passed away on April 16, 2024, in Denver, Colorado.

Daryl was born on November 18, 1949, in Ogallala, NE, to Philip A. and Pauline M. (Ross) Brown. Daryl received his early education at West Vail, District 61, and later graduated from Brule High School with the class of 1968.

In 1971, Daryl married Janelle Johnson, and they welcomed a son, Trenton Brown. The marriage ended in May of 1975.

Daryl attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, returning to Brule in the spring of 1973 and completing his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education in May 1976. He began his career working for Johnson Construction until 1974, when he purchased and remodeled a hardware store, which was formerly his grandfather Joshua Brown's pool hall. In 1978, after selling the hardware store, Daryl began farming the family farm. He dedicated 25 years to farming before joining Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked as a remote control engineer and conductor at Bailey Yards.

In 1978, Daryl married Jo Etta Latham, and they were blessed with two children, Ashlie Brown and Adam Brown.

Daryl was an integral part of his community, contributing nearly 25 years to the Brule Fire Department and nearly 50 years to the Brule Lions Club, where he served as an officer for many years. He was also a founding officer of the Brule Housing Authority and a member of the Nebraska National Trails Museum, the National Railroad Historical Society for over 25 years, the Elks Club, and the Kiwanis Club. His commitment to community service extended to his participation in the St. Luke's Catholic Church Choir and his substantial contributions as a blood donor, having donated nearly 10 gallons.

Daryl's hobbies included motorcycle riding, often visiting Sturgis, working with model trains-a passion for over 60 years-sailing, and flying as a private pilot.

Known for his quiet, thoughtful nature and dry sense of humor, Daryl often expressed pride in his children's achievements and their community involvement.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Pauline Brown, and his in-laws, Ralph and Edna Latham, as well as his brother-in-law, William E. (Nellie) Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Brown of Brule; children, Adam (Amanda Gilmore) Brown of Windsor, CO, Ashlie (Cody Butt) Brown of Denver, CO, and Trent (Shannon) Brown of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Clifford) Welsh; brother-in-law, Dennis Latham; two nephews and three nieces, along with many other relatives and friends.

Daryl A. Brown (1949-2024)

William G. “Billy” Edelman, 47, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away April, 12, 2024 at his home in North Platte. &nbsp;He was born January 13, 1977 to Dickie Paul and Jean Ann (Christensen) Edelman in Grant, Nebraska. &nbsp;

Bill graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1995. &nbsp;He attended the University of Nebraska and was in the Ag Men Fraternity there. &nbsp;After college he returned to North Platte and went to work for the City of North Platte, training on the job to eventually become a lineman. Always the provider, Bill worked a second job with Neil Deertz wiring houses while Tabitha was in nursing school. For several years he managed the warehouse for Municipal Light &amp; Water. &nbsp;Later he went to work for Dutton-Lainson as a salesman, where he was currently working. &nbsp;Bill was united in marriage to Tabitha Beel on March 20, 1999 in Hershey, Nebraska. To this union two boys were born Rhett and Rhys. &nbsp; Bill loved his family and friends with all his heart and would do anything for anyone. &nbsp;He frequently helped strangers while out on the road working. &nbsp;He loved following his boys in their activities and was so proud of the men they are becoming. &nbsp;He taught them to be gentlemen and always show respect to others. &nbsp;He was a Husker Fan through and through and loved watching all Husker sports. His passion was golf and would play whenever he could whether alone or with others. &nbsp;From golf to music, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and dancing, he was always ready to be social. &nbsp;He could make friends with anyone he met, and did! &nbsp;He loved going to his grandparents’ home every summer when he was young and spent as much time with them as he could. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Memorials are suggested to the family for the future education of his boys, the Alzheimer’s Association, Hershey Volunteer Fire Department, or the North Platte Cowboy Church. &nbsp;&nbsp;

 </figure>William G. “Billy” Edelman, 47, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away April, 12, 2024 at his home in North Platte. &nbsp;He was born January 13, 1977 to Dickie Paul and Jean Ann (Christensen) Edelman in Grant, Nebraska. &nbsp;Bill graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1995. &nbsp;He attended the University of Nebraska and was in the Ag Men Fraternity there. &nbsp;After college he returned to North Platte and went to work for the City of North Platte, training on the job to eventually become a lineman. Always the provider, Bill worked a second job with Neil Deertz wiring houses while Tabitha was in nursing school. For several years he managed the warehouse for Municipal Light &amp; Water. &nbsp;Later he went to work for Dutton-Lainson as a salesman, where he was currently working. &nbsp;Bill was united in marriage to Tabitha Beel on March 20, 1999 in Hershey, Nebraska. To this union two boys were born Rhett and Rhys. &nbsp; Bill loved his family and friends with all his heart and would do anything for anyone. &nbsp;He frequently helped strangers while out on the road working. &nbsp;He loved following his boys in their activities and was so proud of the men they are becoming. &nbsp;He taught them to be gentlemen and always show respect to others. &nbsp;He was a Husker Fan through and through and loved watching all Husker sports. His passion was golf and would play whenever he could whether alone or with others. &nbsp;From golf to music, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and dancing, he was always ready to be social. &nbsp;He could make friends with anyone he met, and did! &nbsp;He loved going to his grandparents’ home every summer when he was young and spent as much time with them as he could. &nbsp;&nbsp;Memorials are suggested to the family for the future education of his boys, the Alzheimer’s Association, Hershey Volunteer Fire Department, or the North Platte Cowboy Church. &nbsp;&nbsp;Bill is survived by his wife, Tabitha, North Platte, Nebraska; 2 sons, Rhett and Rhys, North Platte, Nebraska; 1 sister, Jana (Jade Gracey) Cox, Gothenburg, Nebraska; niece, Megan Cox, Gothenburg, Nebraska; nephew, Kade Cox, Gothenburg, Nebraska; parents-In-law, Kent (Mona) Beel, Hershey, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Chris (Lucy) Beel, North Platte, Nebraska; niece, Alexis Beel, North Platte, Nebraska; great-aunt, Emma Hiatt, North Platte, Nebraska; special dog, Chloe; aunts and uncles, Gale (Jim) Herrmann, Sue (Jim) Maire, Cap Dillon, Kate Christensen, Larry (Cindy) Christensen, Tammy (Jeff) Dugger, Sue (Dirk) Higgins; along with numerous other family members and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents, Dickie and Jean Ann Edelman; grandparents, Dick and Bonnie Edelman, Robert Christensen, Bonnie Favinger; uncles, Dwayne "Red" Christiansen, Don Dillon, William “Bill” Edelman.Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Hershey, Methodist Church, Hershey, Nebraska. &nbsp; Rev. William "Billy" G. Edelman (1977-2024)

Anthony "Tony" Lingbloom, 38, of Phoenix, AZ, departed this life on July 7, 2023, at his home in Phoenix, AZ.

Tony was born on December 12, 1984, in Lincoln, NE, and moved to Phoenix, AZ with his family in 1986. Tony graduated from Estrella Foothills High School [EFHS] in Goodyear, AZ, in 2003, and shortly after, gained employment with Harkins Theatre and worked as a doorman for over 12 years.

Despite requiring the use of a wheelchair for a majority of life, Tony was a vivacious young man who enjoyed socializing with online gaming friends, as well as watching the WWE, Phoenix Suns, and Arizona Cardinals sports teams. Everyone who knew Tony understood that all other activities ceased when his favorite teams were playing a game.

Tony was well-known for his "thousand-watt" smile and laid-back attitude. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and exemplified the definition of one that met life's challenges with grace and courage.

Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Shirley Lingbloom and John and Lillian Steele.

Tony is survived by his parents, John and Elaine (Lingbloom) Steele, brother Shayne; uncles Jim (Kim) Lingbloom and Tom (Trudy) Lingbloom, as well as numerous family members and friends who touched his life in a positive way.

A graveside service will be held at the Elsie Cemetery on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Bill Williams officiating.
