Kearney, Neb. –&nbsp;The fifth-ranked Nebraska Kearney wrestling team fell to NAIA power Grand View, 27-12, Thursday night in Des Moines.

The top-ranked Vikings, who’ve won 12 of the last 13 NAIA national titles, move to 9-0 in the dual season while UNK falls to 7-5.

The Lopers were more than short-handed as starters&nbsp;Zach Ourada&nbsp;(125 lbs.),&nbsp;Trenton Munoz&nbsp;(165 lbs.) and&nbsp;Jackson Kinsella&nbsp;(197 lbs.) were out due to either injury or illness. All three should return to action soon. Ourada is ranked No. 1 in his class, Kinsella is third with Munoz having spent time in the 165-pound top 15.

At heavyweight, top-ranked&nbsp;Crew Howard&nbsp;(Clarinda, Ia.) bested top-ranked Greg Hagan, 5-2. To avenge a loss to Hagan last year, Howard used an escapes and takedown in third period. Next, North Carolina twins&nbsp;Jacobi&nbsp;and&nbsp;Jacari Deal&nbsp;won at 174 and 184 pounds. Jacari is now 4-0 after getting two takedowns, 7-2, with Jacobi, UNK’s former starter at 184 pounds, getting past top-ranked Alex Reynolds in sudden victory, 4-1. Both wrestlers record an escape in regulation before Deal’s winning takedown.

UNK’s other win also came by a 4-1 score in overtime as junior&nbsp;Hector Serratos&nbsp;(Wichita) got past second-ranked Jackson Cockrell. At the next weight, redshirt sophomore&nbsp;Joseph Airola&nbsp;(Ward, Colo.) wasn’t as fortunate as he lost by just a 1-0 score to top-ranked Carson Taylor. Finally, GV had two falls and a major among its six wins.

UNK Wrestling: Short Handed Lopers Fall at Grand View, 27-12

Kearney, Neb. – Redshirt junior point guard Jillian Aschoff scored 19 points and senior wing Samantha Moore had her second straight double double to help lift Nebraska Kearney over Northwest Missouri State, <a href="https://lopers.com/sports/womens-basketball/stats/2024-25/northwest-missouri/boxscore/7999">71-64</a>, Thursday night at the Health &amp; Sports Center.

The Lopers (12-3, 5-1) sweep the season series from the Bearcats (9-8, 2-5) to now lead the all-time series, 18-9.

UNK trailed 30-26 at the break but used a big third quarter, 26-15, to move ahead. They shot 73% (8 of 11) in the first 10 minutes of the second half but couldn’t pull away as they sunk just 8 of 13 free throws.

“In the third quarter we created more flow in transition. We fouled them a few too many times in the quarter but we really created an up and down pace which is to our advantage,” said UNK head coach Drew Johnson. “We were able to drive it on a broken floor. When the floor is set, Northwest is one of the best defensive teams in the country. When it’s broken, you have some advantages you can try and take.”

Northwest hung around thanks to the heroics of fifth-year senior guard Molly Hartnett who went for 28 points, six assists and six rebounds. Down nine late in the third quarter, the ‘Cats trimmed the deficit to two midway through the fourth and then to three on two other occasions. However, the Lopers had a response each time, sinking six of their last eight free throws and getting two paint buckets from veteran post Kia Wilson (St. George, Kan.).

Aschoff (Lincoln Pius) reached her team-best point total by making 8 of 10 free throws and sinking five shots. She also had five rebounds and three assists with Moore (Mullen) at 11 rebounds and 18 points. She went 3 for 3 from deep with two of the shots helping UNK claw its way back into things.

“Those two threes Samantha hit were deep; it was 20-12 and we needed them,” said Johnson. “When she plays like that, with a chip on her shoulder, she’s a hard guard.”

Six others were between two and nine points including junior reserve point guard Saniya Simmons (Olathe, Kan.) and sophomore reserve post Bailee Sobczak (Rapid City, S.D.). The 5-2 Simmons blocked a late three-point attempt by Northwest with Sobczak having eight boards and eight points.

“Rotating out and getting that block was fantastic and I thought Saniya played well tonight. She played a bunch of minutes and was dynamic defensively against Emporia State (last Saturday night) and we’re going to need her a ton this season,” said Johnson.

Besides Hartnett, Northwest got 13 points from junior Emree Zars and 10 points from graduate guard Caely Kesten. She was one of three ‘Cats to foul out late. UNK finished 19 of 28 at the line and was plus 11 on the glass with NW having just six turnovers.

Aschoff & Moore help the Lopers down the 'Cats, 71-64

Kearney, Neb. – Three players scored in double figures and Nebraska Kearney took advantage of a rare five-point possession to get past Northwest Missouri State, <a href="https://lopers.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2024-25/northwest-missouri/boxscore/8018">74-69</a>, Thursday night at the Health &amp; Sports Center.

UNK (6-8, 4-2) wins a fourth straight game for the first time since 2019-20 and takes the season series from the Bearcats (4-12, 2-5). Prior to this year, the Lopers had beaten ‘Cats just once since joining the conference.

The close game trend continues for the Blue &amp; Gold as they are now 4-5 in games decided by eight points or less. They lost their first five such contests but have turned the tables in the New Year.

It seemed UNK might run away with things as they held a 14-point lead at the end of the first half and at the start of the second half, 38-24. However, the ‘Cats sunk six second half threes and were better on the glass after the break to not only trim that deficit but also move ahead. Senior Byron Alexander recorded a putback bucket with 2:38 left to make it 66-61.

On a night where UNK was just 10 of 18 at the line, senior Chase Thompson (Omaha Westside) sunk two freebies to make it a one possession game. After getting a stop, redshirt junior Kendrick Gilbert (St. Louis) saw his baseline shot blocked out of bounds. However, Northwest was called for a technical foul and that turned the tide.

“The kid just let his emotions get away and said something he probably shouldn’t have said. It did end up going our way,” said UNK head coach Marty Levinson. “Chase made both free throws and then the elevator play worked perfectly.”

Thompson hit the two technical shots and then sunk a triple with 1:30 remaining to put UNK ahead for good, 68-66. Northwest missed the second of two free throws 10 seconds later and then the Lopers made all three shots in took in the final 1:01. Northwest, meanwhile, made two freebies but missed their last two shots.

“We haven’t quit against anybody, so I didn’t expect us to lay down (after getting behind). Maybe it’s about the wins we have had recently. It’s given them a little bit more confidence that ‘hey, we’ve been in these moments, and we’ll make this thing go our way,” said Levinson.

Thompson went for a game-high 21 points by going 7 of 11 (3 of 4 threes) from the field with guards Ja’Bryant Hill (17) and Allen Taylor (16) combining for 33 points. Hill (Duncanville, Texas) also hit seven shots with Taylor (Rogers, Ark.) having 12 first half points. He also had six rebounds and three assists with Hill at four steals.

UNK shot 48% and was plus three on the glass with Northwest having 21 second chance points off 12 o-boards. The Lopers overcame that by having a 14-point advantage in the paint.

“Our whole plan was to stomp them when we came out of the locker room and put them away,” said Levinson. “But they came out and everything just went their way. That’s when your character has to matter, and you have to power through it.”

Also, post Taylor Harrell (Huntsville, Texas) had 11 rebounds, eight points and two blocks with wing DJ Jamerson (Cibolo, Texas) at four points and a block. UNK had a season-best seven swats.

Northwest got 16 points from both senior Luke Moustakas and Wahoo freshman Marcus Glock; the pair combined to go 7 of 14 from behind the arc. Alexander came on strong and tallied 11 boards, seven points and three assists.

Lopers Win Another Close One, Sweep Season Series from Northwest

Iowa City&nbsp;- Freshman Britt Prince scored a game-high 22 points, including huge plays down the stretch in regulation to lead Nebraska in a total team effort on its way to an 87-84 overtime victory over Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday night.

Playing in front of nearly 15,000 fans and a Big Ten Network audience, Prince not only pumped in 22 points, she added seven rebounds, five assists and a career-high six steals to lead the Cornhuskers to their first win at Carver-Hawkeye since 2018.&nbsp; Nebraska improved to 14-4 overall and 5-2 in the Big Ten, while Iowa slipped to 12-6 and 2-5 in the conference.

In a rematch of the 2024 Big Ten Championship Game, which also went to overtime in a Husker loss at the Target Center in Minneapolis, senior center Alexis Markowski pitched in 19 points and seven rebounds despite being strapped by foul trouble for most of the game. Markowski fouled out early in the overtime period, but young posts Jessica Petrie and Amiah Hargrove stepped up with huge plays.

Petrie, a sophomore from Gold Coast, Australia, who was coming off the best game of her career with 12 points and nine rebounds in a road win at Rutgers on Sunday, added 13 points and six rebounds, including five points in the final four minutes of regulation. Her biggest shot came on a three-pointer with 2:14 left in regulation to pull Nebraska within 72-70 after the Huskers trailed by 11 points with six minutes left.

Petrie added two critical free throws with 2:02 left in overtime to give Nebraska an 85-78 lead, but her biggest play of the night game with an offensive rebound after a Kendall Moriarty free throw miss. Petrie kicked the rebound out to Prince who found Logan Nissley. The sophomore from Bismarck, N.D., was fouled and hit two free throws with 9.9 seconds left to seal the victory.

Nissley, who finished with 13 points and five assists, pulled Nebraska off the deck when the Huskers trailed 64-53 with six minutes left in regulation. She started a massive Husker rally with a three-pointer from the corner in front of the Big Red bench, then added another three-pointer 38 seconds later off a scrappy, smart play by Prince to suddenly put the Huskers within striking distance at 64-59.

Markowski and Petrie capped a 10-0 Big Red run to draw within 64-63 with four minutes left.

In addition to double-figure efforts from Prince, Markowski, Petrie and Nissley, freshman forward Amiah Hargrove notched her first career double-double with 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Hargrove also hit a pair of big threes early in the game, including NU's fourth consecutive three-pointer as part of a 16-2 Husker surge that turned a 17-10 deficit into a 26-19 first-quarter lead. Her second three gave NU a 34-28 edge with 3:29 left in the first half.

Alberte Rimdal also played a major role in Nebraska's success with nine points off the bench, while Moriarty may have had the play of the game with her remarkable defensive rebound of a missed Iowa three on the baseline, after she dove on the floor into the Iowa cheerleaders at the opposite end.

Nebraska led 26-19 after one quarter and maintained a one-point halftime lead (38-37) after going up 10 points at 31-21 early in the second quarter. Iowa claimed a 56-51 lead heading to the final period and pushed the lead to 64-53 before the Husker rally to send the game to overtime.&nbsp;

For the game, Nebraska hit 45.2 percent (28-62) of its shots, including an outstanding 43.3 percent (13-30) from long range. The Huskers were also an outstanding 18-for-22 at the free throw line, including 8-for-8 in regulation before converting 10-of-14 free throws in overtime. Nebraska won without hitting an OT field goal.

The Hawkeyes hit 44.1 percent (30-68) from the field, including 8-of-27 threes (.296), but just 16-of-29 free throws (.552) on their home court. Iowa outworked Nebraska on the glass, 42-38, and won the turnover battle, 16-13.

Hannah Stuelke led six Hawkeyes in double figures with 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, while Sydney Affolter added a double-double of her own with 10 points and 13 boards. Lucy Olsen and Aaliyah Guyton both contributed 14 points, while Kylie Feuerback contributed 13 points. Addison O'Grady added 10 points off the bench for the Hawkeyes.

Huskers rally to beat Hawkeyes in OT, 87-84

On the unforced errors and missed free throws“Ten missed free throws,17 assists and seven turnovers, you should win the game when that happens, and 19 offensive rebounds. You outscore them on second-chance points. I think it was 25-19, so you’ve got to find a way to win the game when you have those kinds of numbers. I give Rutgers credit, don’t look at their record, that’s a much better team than what their record is because of the four or five games (Dylan) Harper missed or played limited minutes. When he’s healthy, you see what type of team that is, and the type of problems that he poses on the offensive end with his size and his shiftiness and his ability to shoot the ball. When they’ve got guys out there who can make shots, that’s a hard team to shut-off. I always sound like a broken record with this but we’ve got to find a way to learn from it and move on. Got a lot of season left, still believe in our guys, and got to bounce back with a great effort this weekend.”

On changes he would have made in the final 5 seconds“Obviously we wanted to get a steal and if not, we were going to wrap it up and foul them right away and they got behind us.”

On effect of this loss at home“It can affect them mentally and we have a big game coming up on a short turnaround. And as you know, I said to the guys in the locker room, I like the short turnaround, to get the bad taste out of our mouths and to get back on the floor and compete again. Tomorrow is going to be a mental day with a lot of film and put the game plan in. We’re going to go a little harder on Saturday with the early game on Sunday. The Puerto Rican is a master of the setter dump as shown by being second in hitting percentage at .500. Plus, her 90 assists and 11.25 per set sits third in the league. That&nbsp;assist&nbsp;total is only five behind league leader and Vegas setter Alisha Glass Childress, who set a PVF record with 72 helpers in the reverse sweep victory over Grand Rapids.&nbsp;

Record Rumble:&nbsp;A pair of franchise records fell in the opening weekend for the Supernovas, who saw two newcomers sketch their names in the record book.&nbsp;Newly signed&nbsp;libero&nbsp;Camila Gómez&nbsp;broke a single-match record for digs, posting 31 digs (6.20 D/S), plus five assists in the thrilling five-set win over Atlanta. The dual is part of the network's "College Wrestling Series" which includes five non-Division I duals this season. Lopers Dual aired live on Iowa PBS

The Nebraska women’s tennis team is headed to California to begin its spring campaign, taking on UC Riverside for a doubleheader dual on Thursday, Jan. 16. The Big Red will face the Highlanders at noon and 4 p.m. (CT) at the SRC Tennis Courts.

The Huskers are coming off the fall individual season in which the team tallied 34 singles wins. Sophomore Maria Taranova led the Big Red in fall singles wins with seven, and had a stellar freshman season in which she earned a 23-8 record, the most wins by a freshman since 2010.

The North Platte Community College Knights softball team will host a winter camp on Feb. 8 at the D&amp;N Event Center in North Platte.

The first session will be held from 9-11 a.m. for players ages 7-12. The focus will be on fundamentals as well as offensive and defensive skills.&nbsp;A pitching and catching session for this age group will take place from 11-Noon.

The second session will be from 1-3 p.m. for ages 13-18. Instruction will cover position work, exit velocity, overhand throwing, running from home to first base and home-to-home time.&nbsp;There will also be an opportunity for participants to ask questions about being a college athlete. This age range will have a pitching and catching session from 3-4 p.m.

Check in will be half an hour before each session.&nbsp;

The cost is $40 per player with an additional ten dollars for the pitching and catching session. Registration can be done through Kaite Holm, assistant softball coach, at&nbsp;<a href="mailto:holmk@mpcc.edu">holmk@mpcc.edu</a>&nbsp;or during check in.

UNK Wrestling: Lopers Face NAIA Power Grand View Thursday in Des Moines

Kearney, Neb. –&nbsp;Nebraska Kearney setter&nbsp;Peyton Neff&nbsp;has earned 2024 first-team&nbsp;Academic All-American honors as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Neff (North Platte) is just the fourth Loper Volleyball player to earn this honor, following two-time selection Kelli Brummer (1999 and 2001), Kim Brumer (1998) and Jenni Mau (1998). Kelli Brummer was a middle blocker, sister Kim played in the back row and the outside with Mau a setter.&nbsp;

A student-athlete must first qualify for her Academic All-District team (be at least a sophomore; 3.50 cumulative GPA; start 66% of team's matches or play in 90% of team's matches) before advancing onto the national ballot. A school can also nominate no more than four players for the All-District team. Finally, CSC/Sports Information Directors from around the nation vote on the makeup of the All-American team.

In the spring of 2024, Neff graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Psychology (3.94 GPA). The AA team used spring 2024 grades; she is now a graduate student working towards a Master's in School Psychology.

On the court, Neff was one of Division II's top setters, averaging 12.4 assists, 2.5 digs, 0.7 blocks, 0.5 kills and 0.2 aces per set. Earning first-team American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American honors, she guided a Loper offense that averaged 14.6 kills per set and hit .258. In 2025, Neff will be in her fifth season at UNK.&nbsp;The Central Region was well represented as St. Cloud State's Kenzie Foley and Concordia-St. Paul's Teagan Starkey also made the first-team with three others on the second-team and one on the third-team.&nbsp;Finally, Starkey was tabbed ad the D2 “Team Member” of the Year.

UNK went 30-3 in 2024, reaching the NCAA Tournament for a 25th straight fall and finishing up the year ranked 11th in D2.&nbsp;

North Platte, Neb. –&nbsp;North Platte cruised to an 81-69 win against Hastings College JV behind 42 first half points at home on Monday night.

Trey Summers had a season high 25 points to lead all scorers. The sophomore transfer guard also totaled five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win.

Justus Michael chipped in 16 points and six rebounds, while Alex Harper and Sedrick Nari rounded out the North Platte players in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

“It was good to see Trey Summers find his rhythm after struggling the last few games,” said head coach Jacob Brandl. “We still have a lot of work to do as we jump back into Region IX play on Friday.”

The Broncos raced out to an early 8-3 lead until a jumper from Summers sparked a North Platte 6-0 run. A short spurt helped the Knights take control until a Will Grable&nbsp;three pointer halted the rally. Knights continued to trade baskets with the Broncos over the closing minutes, as they stretched their lead into double digits at the halftime break, 42-28.

Summers&nbsp;opened the second half with five straight points to extend the lead to 47-28. The Broncos managed to keep pace down the stretch, but it was not enough to pull off the upset.

North Platte (9-6) returns to Region IX play against Trinidad State College on Friday. Tip is set for 8 p.m. in Trinidad, Colo.

Knights dominate Broncos at home

The trio of&nbsp;Natalia Valentín-Anderson, Brooke Nuneviller&nbsp;and&nbsp;Reagan Cooper&nbsp;spearheaded an improved Omaha (2-0) offense from opening night that hit .253, compared to a .187 hitting percentage on Friday against Atlanta. Valentín-Anderson — Puerto Rico's starting setter in the 2016 Rio Olympics — dished out 42 assists, 11 digs, four kills and an ace in an all-around performance despite worse passing from two nights ago.

She also recovered from a hard face-to-face collision with Nuneviller in the second set. Both her and the Oregon product shook it off as Nuneviller went on to finish with 15 kills on a .353 hitting percentage with 19 digs. Cooper recovered from a rough opening night to end with a match-high 16 kills (.273) and 12 digs with an ace.

Kayla Caffey&nbsp;led all Omaha middle blockers with seven kills on a .235 clip with five digs.&nbsp;Kaitlyn Hord&nbsp;was limited offensively with three kills, but came up with a pair of blocks to move her season total to nine in two matches.&nbsp;Kelsie Payne&nbsp;tallied seven kills on the night while&nbsp;Ally Batenhorst&nbsp;killed three balls on five swings in the place of Nuneviller in the second set.&nbsp;Libero Camila Gómez&nbsp;recorded 12 digs and three assists.

2024 Greek League MVP Sherridan Atkinson led the Rise with 12 kills on a .344 clip with eight digs and one block. Erika Pritchard came off the bench for 12 kills on a .417 hitting percentage with 11 digs in two sets.

Set 1:&nbsp;The Rise took an early 3-2 lead, but a Cooper kill and ace resulted in a 3-0 run for a 5-3 lead. That advantage grew to 8-5 with a trio of kills from Nuneviller, Payne and Caffey. Grand Rapids kept within arm's reach with a few errors from Omaha and an Atkinson termination. After being tied at 12, a 3-0 run from the Supernovas off a pair of Nuneviller kills kept the momentum rolling. An extended rally ending in a Cooper kill snowballed into a 4-1 run for Omaha to take a commanding 21-15 lead. Cooper succeeded on her second swing of a rally to give Omaha set point before a net violation ended the opening set with a 25-21 Supernovas victory. Cooper teed off for seven kills on a .353 hitting percentage while Nuneviller and Caffey tallied four of their own.

Set 2:&nbsp;The second set began like the first with tight back-and-forth action, but Omaha gained the early advantage with a 4-0 run jump started by two Rise hitting errors and kills from Batenhorst — who came in for an injured Nuneviller after the collison with Valentín-Anderson — and Cooper. The Supernovas were startled from the hard impact with its two core players as Grand Rapids middle blocker Ali Bastianelli came off the bench to serve a 6-0 run to give the Rise an 11-9 lead. Cooper followed up with two kills and an ace from Valentín-Anderson to regain the edge. Neither team would gain a lead larger than two points for the rest of the set, and Grand Rapids took the upper hand with a kill from Carli Snyder to give the Rise a 23-22 lead. Then Nuneviller went into overdrive, terminating on her next three swings for a trio of points to give Omaha a 25-23 win and a 2-0 match lead.

Set 3:&nbsp;Trailing 4-2 early, the Supernovas rallied off a 4-0 run from two Nuneviller kills, a Valentín-Anderson tally and a Payne ace to take a 6-4 lead. Cooper extended her match-leading kill total with two more to put the score at 9-6 Omaha. Pritchard found an offensive groove off the bench for the Rise with two kills and a block from rookie setter Camryn Turner and Alyssa Jensen for Grand Rapids to take a 15-14 advantage. The third-year pro delivered an impressive 22 kills and 17 digs showcasing her dominance on both offense and defense. Middle blocker and former Husker&nbsp;Kaitlyn Hord&nbsp;also made Supernovas history, breaking the franchise’s single-match blocking record with seven stuffs. Hord added 10 kills and recorded a .555 hitting percentage on the night.Libero&nbsp;Camila Gómez,&nbsp;who signed with the Supernovas over the offseason from Grand Rapids, added another franchise record in her Omaha debut, tallying a single-match record 31 digs. Puerto Rico Olympian&nbsp;Natalia Valentín-Anderson&nbsp;dished out 48 assists and 17 digs with three kills to start out her second season in a Supernovas uniform.&nbsp;Reagan Cooper&nbsp;(8),&nbsp;Kelsie Payne&nbsp;(6) and&nbsp;Ally Batenhorst&nbsp;(6) all added offensively in a night where Omaha hit .187 as a team, but limited the Vibe to .155 hitting percentage.&nbsp;Former Nebraska first team All-American&nbsp;Merritt Beason&nbsp;led Atlanta with 17 kills and a .347 hitting percentage in her professional debut. Middle blocker and Stanford product McKenna Vicini posted 11 kills on a .435 hitting percentage. Pia Timmer reached 11 kills while reigning PVF MVP Leah Edmond equaled that total with 11 of her own.&nbsp;Set 1:&nbsp;The match began with Beason making an immediate impact for the Vibe, securing three of the team’s first five points with two kills and a block to give Atlanta a 5-3 advantage. The opening set was filled with errors from both teams, but the set remained competitive with the Vibe keeping an arm’s reach out front. Shelly Fanning mustered a kill, and a Payne error gave Atlanta a four-point edge at 18-14. A reversal on a block touch swung the momentum and killed a Supernovas comeback as Fanning closed the door for a 25-22 set win. Cooper led Omaha with four kills while Beason had four on her own.&nbsp;Set 2:&nbsp;The Supernovas came out strong in the second set, jumping to an early 5-2 lead. Beason followed up with a key kill, tying the score at 8-8. Valentín-Anderson quickly responded with a setter dump and an ace to regain the lead for the Supernovas. The Vibe kept the pressure but Nuneviller’s back-to-back kills shifted control to a 16-13 Omaha lead. Hord’s sixth kill of the night followed by a Timmer hitting error extended the lead to 21-16. Back-to-back blocks from Aiko Jones and rookie Khori Lewis cut the Supernovas lead to 21-19, but a block from Hord and back-to-back stuffs from Payne led Omaha to close out the set with a 25-19 victory.Set 3:&nbsp;The set started off tight with a 6-6 tie as points were traded back and forth. Tied at 10, Atlanta mounted a rally with a pair of blocks from Vicini and two kills by Edmond to give the Vibe a 15-11 advantage. Trailing 18-13, A string of four-straight points and three consecutive blocks helped the Supernovas close the gap at 18-17. Another Nuneviller kill tied the set at 20, but a 5-1 Atlanta run – highlighted by two Vicini blocks – gave the Vibe a 2-1 set advantage with a 25-22 game win.&nbsp;Set 4:&nbsp;The Supernovas made a key adjustment in the fourth set, bringing in Batenhorst for Cooper, to fuel a 7-1 lead to start the set. Batenhorst secured her second kill of the match to help the Supernovas extend its advantage to 11-6. The momentum continued as Omaha extended the score to 15-9 off a Payne kill and block, forcing the Vibe to call a timeout. For the remainder of the set Batenhorst and Nuneviller took charge offensively, leading the Supernovas with four kills each. The Supernovas closed out the set 25-22 to force a decisive fifth set.&nbsp;Set 5:&nbsp;The Vibe took control early in the fifth set, jumping out to a 4-2 lead. Nuneviller quickly responded with two kills to tie the score. Batenhorst helped jumpstart a run with a kill that pushed the Supernovas ahead 8-5. Beason kept the Vibe in the game with back-to-back tallies, which narrowed the gap to 11-9, but Nuneviller answered with two more kills to extend Omaha’s lead to 13-11.
