North Platte, Neb. – Justus Michael and Mo Diao each finished the game with a double-double, as North Platte dominates Laramie County, 97-76, on Saturday afternoon.

Michael recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Diao added 18 points and 12 rebounds against the Golden Eagles. Sedrick Nari chipped in 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field, while Maurice Reide added 12 points to round out the North Platte double digit scorers.

North Platte trailed for only 32 seconds in the entire game, which came in the opening minutes of the first half. In a tightly contested battle, Laramie County jumped out to a 5-3 lead on a three pointer by Andre Bennett. A 9-1 spurt behind four points from Diao put the Knights back out front with 16:26 remaining.

Laramie County cut the margin down to one twice over the next 3:26, but an 11-4 run pushed the Knights lead to 37-25 inside five minutes to play. Laramie County used eight straight points from Bennett to trim the margin to four, but a clutch three from Alex Harper triggered another short run to help North Platte carry a 46-37 lead into the break.

The Knights lead grew to as many as 25 in the second half, as they continued to control the tempo on their way to a 21-point win.

North Platte shot 44.2 percent (34-77) from the field, while connecting on 10-of-24 from long range. Knights won the rebounding battle, 54-36, while turning 19 offensive rebounds into 22 second chance points.&nbsp;

Knights (6-5) open conference action on Tuesday with Central Community College. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. inside the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

CHADRON, Neb. – The Chadron State College women's basketball team led from start to finish while opening its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule with a 71-67 victory over South Dakota Mines on the Eagles' home court Thursday night.

Most of the game was not as close as the final score would indicate. The Eagles, now 2-5 for the season and 1-0 in RMAC play, held a 12-3 lead after the first eight minutes had been played and eventually were ahead by 18 points—33-15--with 2:23 left in the second period. However, Mines scored eight of the last 10 points prior to halftime, cutting the difference to 35-23 at the break. In the second half, South Dakota Mines cut the difference to only three points twice in the final 2:33 before the Eagles held on for the win.  

Kylie Krise was the Eagles' leader, finishing with 23 points off the bench to match her career-high from a year ago against MSU Denver. She sank seven of her nine field goal attempts, including 5-of-6 three-pointers, and was 4-of-6 at the free throw line. In addition, Krise grabbed 10 rebounds, giving her a double-double for the first time in her two years at CSC. 

Both Camren Morris and Allison Richards tallied 12 points for Chadron State, Kyra Tanabe added 10 and Ashayla Powers eight. Behind Krise's 10 boards, four different Eagles finished with five rebounds apiece – Richards, Morris, Powers and McKenzi Petersen.

Most of the Hardrockers' scoring was provided by sophomore forward Morning Grace Spotted Bear with 24 points and senior guard Piper Bauer with 22. Spotted Bear was 6-of-14 from the field, one of them a 3-pointer, and was 11-of-15 at the free throw line. Bauer was 7-of-18 on her field goal shots, two of them treys, and was 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.  

Overall, the Eagles shot 43.1% (22-51) from the field while Mines hit just 31.1% (19-61). Krise provided the difference with her 5-of-6 from behind the arc, as the Eagles meshed eight three-pointers in 20 attempts while the Hardrockers were just 4 of 23.

Spotted Bear grabbed 12 rebounds for game-high honors, but the Eagles out-rebounded the Hardockers 46-37 overall. 

The Eagles will travel to Spearfish Saturday to face Black Hills State (5-3, 1-0 RMAC). The Yellow Jackets also beat the Hardrockers on Tuesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Eagles hold off Hardrocker comeback to win RMAC opener

CHADRON, Neb. – The Eagles started their RMAC conference season with a win against South Dakota Mines, creating early momentum on Thursday night to defeat the Hardrockers 84-56 at the Chicoine Center.

Darrius Miles, a junior from Texas, was the game's leading scorer with 18 points. Miles shot 5 of 9 from the field, including 4 of 6 three-pointers and made all four free throw attempts. Jalen Thomas and Julio Phipps each added 14 points for the Eagles. 

The Eagles shot 54 percent from the field as a team and were 50 percent from three-point range and 80 percent for free throws. John Jenkins led the Eagles with nine rebounds, followed by Trey Ballard with eight. CSC outscored the Hardrockers 36-20 in the paint and 17-2 on second chance points. 

Three players finished in double digits for South Dakota Mines – Keagen Smith with 13, Mac Terry with 11 and Tre Dowdell with 10. The Hardrockers shot just 35 percent from the field during the game, including 27 percent in the second half.

The Eagles ran the floor at the beginning of the first half, starting it off with a layup from Darrius Miles. After a three-pointer from the Hardrockers, the Eagles started to build the momentum that they would keep for the rest of the game. 

A 10-0 scoring run for the Eagles early in the half started their separation from the Hardrockers as a Jalen Thomas three made the score 30-14. The Eagles kept the lead, ending the half with a 45-35 lead. In the first half, the Eagles shot 51.6 percent from the field, including 61.5 percent from beyond the arc.

In the second half, the Eagles kept rolling and scored the first six points of the second half on two Darrius Miles free throws and layups from Jalen Thomas and Zy Wright to make it 51-35. An 8-0 scoring run with a major dunk by Julio Phipps made the score 61-38. 

The Eagles continued their scoring and went on another 8-0 run in the final minutes of the game. The final score of 84-56 was the Eagles' biggest lead of the night at 28 points.

The Eagles improved their shooting percentage for the second half, making 15 of 26 attempts to shoot 57.7 percent from the field. Chadron State outscored the Hardrockers 39-21 after halftime.

Chadron State is now 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the RMAC. The Eagles will face Black Hills State University on Saturday in Spearfish at 3 p.m. Black Hills faced South Dakota Mines on Tuesday and the Hardrockers defeated the Yellowjackets 58-50. Black Hills is 4-5 overall and 0-1 in the RMAC.

North Platte, Neb. – Freshman Zaily Mazarin scored a career best 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 71-62 loss to Air Force Prep on Wednesday night.

Mazarin now has four double-doubles in ten career games for the black and gold. Nariah Golden, Nevaeh Golden and EmmaJo Locks each recorded seven points for North Platte.

A 10-1 run midway through the first quarter gave the Huskies a 18-9 lead. Sa'Naii May connected from long range to break up the run, before five straight points pushed the margin to 11 at the end of the opening ten minutes.

North Platte used an 8-2 run to open the second quarter to cut the margin to five on a jumper by Kateria Gooden. The Huskies responded with a 14-4 run over the final eight minutes to build their largest lead of the game at the halftime break, 41-24.

Mazarin led the second half resurgence by scoring nine of North Platte's 11 points to open the third quarter. The Huskies lead never trickled under ten in the frame, as they held a 55-40 lead headed into the final quarter.

A 12-2 run to open the final ten minutes cut the margin to five on a three by Nariah Golden. Air Force Prep retaliated with their own run over the next 2:38 to stretch their lead back into double digits. The Huskies continued to hold the momentum down the stretch to close out the win.

Knights (6-4) will begin a two-game road trip beginning with the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming College on Friday. Tip is set for 6 p.m. in Torrington, Wyo.

Lincoln&nbsp;- Britt Prince scored 14 points to lead four Huskers in double figures as No. 25 Nebraska outscored Lindenwood 42-18 in the second half to pull away for a69-48 women's basketball win at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday night.

Prince, a freshman from Omaha, scored 11 points in the second half to help the Huskers improve to 7-1 on the season, while Lindenwood slipped to 4-3.

Alexis Markowski, who scored eight points in the fourth quarter, added her third consecutive double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Huskers, while Callin Hake contributed 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals.&nbsp;

Freshman Petra Bozan rounded out the four Huskers in double figures with 10 points and three rebounds in strong effort that included eight points in the first half to keep the Huskers within striking distance. Logan Nissley added a solid effort of her own with nine points, while Allison Weidner and Jessica Petrie both pitched in four points in a low-scoring affair.&nbsp;

Nebraska prevailed despite going 1-for-10 from three-point range in the first half, while Lindenwood connected on 6-of-13 first-half threes. The hot shooting by the Lions allowed them to take a 30-27 lead to halftime, after the Huskers led 15-14 at the end of the opening quarter.

Hake, Prince and Nissley set the tone for Nebraska at the start of the third quarter, combining for 12 points to shoot the Huskers to a 39-36 lead at the first media timeout in the second half. Prince added a three-pointer in the closing minute of the quarter to send the Big Red to the fourth with a 46-41 edge.

The fourth quarter was all Huskers, as another Prince triple pushed the margin to double digits for the first time at 58-48 with 4:40 left. Prince's three was part of a 16-0 Nebraska run to close the game that included a three-pointer by Kendall Coley, who made her first career start in 113 games as a Husker.

For the game, Nebraska finished at 45.3 percent (29-64) shooting, including 6-of-22 from three-point range after going 5-for-12 in the second half. The Big Red won the battle of the boards, 43-35, while also finishing with a plus-six turnover margin (19-13).

The Huskers held Lindenwood to 1-for-12 from long range in the second half with the long make coming on a bank shot from the deep right wing - the second deep bank shot of the night for the Lions. After going 11-for-26 overall from the field in the first half, Lindenwood was held to just 6-for-29 shooting in the second half by the Huskers to finish the night at 30.9 percent (17-55).&nbsp;

Ellie Bruggemann led Lindenwood with nine points and six rebounds, while Bellevue East graduate Mya Skoff and Gracie Kelsey each added seven points off the bench. Justis Odom, Gracy Wernli and Alyssa Nielsen each pitched in five points for the Lions.

Nebraska opens Big Ten Conference action at home on Sunday by taking on unbeaten Minnesota. Hastings, Neb. – The Knights men’s basketball team eclipsed the century mark in a 101-61 win over Hastings College JV on Tuesday night.

“We were really unselfish on offense and aggressive on defensive tonight,” said head coach Jacob Brandl. “Our guys were completely locked in from start to finish and I thought our attention to detail was the best it has been.”

It was a tightly contested opening five minutes until a 21-3 run propelled the Knights out to a 29-13 lead. During the nearly six-minute stretch,&nbsp;Maurice Reide&nbsp;led the Knights with six points including a one-handed jam in transition.

Broncos cut the margin to 29-15 with 6:35 to play, but an 8-3 burst by the Knights extended their lead to 19. Hastings once again paused the rally with a corner three, before an 11-2 run gave the Knights a 48-23 halftime lead.

North Platte surged out of the break to construct a 63-31 lead on a pair of Reide free throws. A quick 7-0 Bronco burst narrowed the margin to 25 with 13:54 to play. The Knights never let the Broncos get any closer as they stretched their lead to 40 by the end of regulation.

North Platte (4-5) will return to Region IX action against the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming College on Friday. Tip is set for 7 p.m. inside the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium in North Platte.

The team bowled a 6-game total of 810. The members of the winning team are Drew, Bradyn, Christan, Isaac, and Oliver. The NSAA State Tournament is on Monday in Lincoln.

2025 Omaha Supernovas Single-Match Tickets Now on Sale

The Nebraska football program announced today that Dana Holgorsen has signed a two-year contract to serve as the Huskers’ offensive coordinator.

Holgorsen joined the Nebraska program in early November, first as an offensive consultant, before moving into the role of coordinator and play-caller for the final three games of the season. Holgorsen’s two-year contract will pay him $1.2 million annually.

Under Holgorsen’s direction, Nebraska improved on offense over the final three games, highlighted by a 44-25 victory over Wisconsin on Nov. 23. In that game, Nebraska posted its highest point total since 2021, while its total offense (473), rushing offense (180) and passing offense (293) outputs were all the second-best of the 2024 season.

“We are excited that Dana Holgorsen has agreed to be our offensive coordinator moving forward,” Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule said. “Dana is one of the elite offensive minds in football, and the progress we made in our final three games provides a glimpse of the potential of our offense under his direction. Holgorsen joined the Huskers this fall after spending the past 13 seasons as a head coach at West Virginia (2011-18) and Houston (2019-23). He owns a 92-69 record as a collegiate head coach, ranking second at West Virginia in coaching victories and fifth on Houston’s all-time wins chart.

In addition to being a successful head coach, Holgorsen boasts an impressive resume as an offensive coordinator. Holgorsen spent six seasons as an offensive coordinator at Texas Tech (2005-07), Houston (2008-09) and Oklahoma State (2010). In his six seasons as an FBS coordinator, Holgorsen’s offenses had an average national finish of second in passing offense, third in total offense and sixth in scoring offense. All six of the offenses Holgorsen served as coordinator ranked in the top three nationally in passing, the top six in total offense and the top 13 in scoring offense.

Holgorsen has coached more than 20 All-Americans and 50 NFL Draft picks, including five top-10 picks. &nbsp;On the offense’s performance&nbsp;

“The thing I was most happy with today was the start. You talk in these early games about how important it is to go out there and throw the first punch and I thought we did that. I think it was 18-4 to start the game and the thing is, they switch one through five, and that’s the first time we’ve seen a defense like that. The thing you cannot do is get stagnant and just try to force it in against a mismatch. We took advantage of some mismatches but once the ball shifted the defense side to side, I thought our activity was good. I thought we got our hands on some balls which got us out and in transition. I thought we did a really nice job finding Connor (Essegian). He obviously had it going again for the second straight game and guys did a good job of finding him. Overall, I think the movement was the thing that I was most pleased with. 22 assists, six turnovers – we are continuing to make strides in the right direction with that and we’re going to need it obviously once we start playing Big Ten games next Saturday.”&nbsp;

“It’s all we talked about. Especially in this early game, we’ve got another one next Saturday, we play at noon. We need to go out there and get off to a great start in a really tough building. I’ve spent a lot of time in that building with a son that played for Coach (Tom) Izzo. If you get off to a tough start, they’re going to be right on top of you. It’s really hard to come back on Michigan State in East Lansing. It’s going to be important to be able to continue to grow. I like the direction we’re moving in and we’re getting better every game. These guys put a lot of stress on you with their ability to shoot the ball, averaging 13.5 threes a game. They made 14 today but we did a great job shutting off the paint, similar to the Creighton game. You can’t give them both. If they shoot a lot of threes, you can’t give them the paint as well. I thought we did a really nice job with that. Again, I was pleased with our hand activity, getting deflections and turning those into points. You need to have possessions like that.”&nbsp;

On the collectiveness of the offense

“Again, we were careless early, that showed with not only the turnovers but the unforced turnover rate that we had. The first probably three games we had a couple solid ones, then we took a step back. Now we have to keep taking steps in the right direction. We can’t give away possessions when you play teams like Michigan State and Indiana, which are the next two. This was an important game. Guys knew that coming in. I’m proud of how they prepared and went out and took care of business. This is a team that beat Georgia Tech handily and they beat South Carolina and they played Georgia pretty tight for the entire game. I think that’s a team that’s going to win a lot of games in their league. So this was a big win for us and to win it going away like we did after they went on a run, I think is definitely a good sign.”

“I’m pretty confident. It just kind of comes with just having fun and just playing. Having&nbsp; guys on the team, and coaches and the staff that you trust and just enjoying being around and playing with. Like Brice (Williams) said, we’re doing a good job just getting guys open. Whether it’s me or anyone else on the team. That just comes with trust that we’ve built. As we go throughout the season and just continue to get better and better and everyone will get open shots.”&nbsp;

On goal of hitting eight threes in a game

“If it happens, it happens. I’m not really too worried about it. As long as we keep winning and keep this hot streak going.”&nbsp;

“It kind of started freshman year, when that really started to develop a little bit. When they started to get scouting reports out and started to try to get me off the line. I’m just trying to develop a full game as scouting reports keep coming out to try to get me off the line. Just to be able to open things up for me and for other guys, if I’m able to get inside the lane and dish and help other guys get shots. It helps the whole team.”&nbsp;

“Definitely can’t overlook any opponent and we were stressed with this opponent because of the resume they have. We were locked in. We were motivated and we have to protect home court. That’s the biggest thing and also non-conference is a big thing and KenPom it’s a big thing. We were all focused coming into the game.”&nbsp;

“Focus is always to get off to a high start. The team that leads first is usually the team that can make a change. You don’t want a team like this, dangerous teams like this, to hang around the whole game because then if it gets late it’s just going to be too much pressure then they have too much momentum so they get a lot on their side. So the goal is always to start out fast.”&nbsp;

“I’m the only one that turned the ball over as a guard. Our focus has always been to make two-foot plays, make simple plays and take care of the ball. I know some games get away from us early and that really allows teams to hang around. But this game, we were stressing about taking care of the ball and making good, simple plays. That’s what we did tonight. It was pretty easy, it wasn’t anything difficult.”

North Florida Head Coach Matthew Driscoll

“To their credit, they did a really good job from the jump. We decided with yesterday’s travel and the earliness of the game to not come in and do shootaround. Probably looking back at it, in hindsight, we probably should’ve come in just to give our guys a better opportunity to know what they’re walking into. They jumped on us early. The second half, we cut it to 16 with the ball and missed a three to cut it to 13. To our guys’ credit, they came back and fought through that. They did a really great job, Coach (Hoiberg) was really prepared. Obviously, we become much more of a hunted program especially when you beat other power four teams. They understand what you’re about and what you do. And to their credit, they were prepared. They really, really came in with an understanding. Turnovers probably at the end of the day, we’ve done a great job of not turning the ball over and it led to 25 of their points. So, we have to understand that, and we have to learn from this.”&nbsp;

On what’s upcoming for North Florida

“We have to travel home, we have an early three A.M. tomorrow morning and then get back and get ready for Thursday night. We’ve got Warner coming into town and it’s going to be a quick turnaround. We’ve got another road game after that and then finals. We’re going to be ripping and running really well in the next seven to 10 days. We’ve just got to do a great job of getting back and getting this thing taken out and then getting back on the floor to continue to improve and get better.”

Overall, I think the movement was the thing that I was most pleased with. 22 assists, six turnovers – we are continuing to make strides in the right direction with that and we’re going to need it obviously once we start playing Big Ten games next Saturday.”&nbsp;On importance of a quick start“It’s all we talked about. Especially in this early game, we’ve got another one next Saturday, we play at noon. We need to go out there and get off to a great start in a really tough building. I’ve spent a lot of time in that building with a son that played for Coach (Tom) Izzo. If you get off to a tough start, they’re going to be right on top of you. It’s really hard to come back on Michigan State in East Lansing. It’s going to be important to be able to continue to grow. I like the direction we’re moving in and we’re getting better every game. These guys put a lot of stress on you with their ability to shoot the ball, averaging 13.5 threes a game. They made 14 today but we did a great job shutting off the paint, similar to the Creighton game. You can’t give them both. If they shoot a lot of threes, you can’t give them the paint as well. I thought we did a really nice job with that. Again, I was pleased with our hand activity, getting deflections and turning those into points. You need to have possessions like that.”&nbsp;On the collectiveness of the offense“Again, we were careless early, that showed with not only the turnovers but the unforced turnover rate that we had. The first probably three games we had a couple solid ones, then we took a step back. Now we have to keep taking steps in the right direction. We can’t give away possessions when you play teams like Michigan State and Indiana, which are the next two. This was an important game. Guys knew that coming in. I’m proud of how they prepared and went out and took care of business. This is a team that beat Georgia Tech handily and they beat South Carolina and they played Georgia pretty tight for the entire game. I think that’s a team that’s going to win a lot of games in their league. Just to be able to open things up for me and for other guys, if I’m able to get inside the lane and dish and help other guys get shots. So the goal is always to start out fast.”&nbsp;On taking care of the ball“I’m the only one that turned the ball over as a guard. Our focus has always been to make two-foot plays, make simple plays and take care of the ball. I know some games get away from us early and that really allows teams to hang around. But this game, we were stressing about taking care of the ball and making good, simple plays. That’s what we did tonight. We’ve got Warner coming into town and it’s going to be a quick turnaround. We’ve got another road game after that and then finals. We’re going to be ripping and running really well in the next seven to 10 days. We’ve just got to do a great job of getting back and getting this thing taken out and then getting back on the floor to continue to improve and get better.”

The Nebraska volleyball team was selected as the No. 2 overall seed for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship on Sunday night and will host the first and second rounds at the Bob Devaney Sports Center this Friday and Saturday.

The Huskers, making their 43rd straight NCAA Tournament appearance and hosting the first round for the 39th time, will open the tournament on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. against Florida A&amp;M (27-6), champions of the SWAC. The 4:30 p.m. match will feature Miami (21-10) of the ACC and South Dakota State (27-2) of the Summit League. Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.

A limited number of tickets to the first and second round matches in Lincoln go on sale at Huskers.com/tickets on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. First and second round matches will be streamed on ESPN+. Huskers Radio Network will have audio coverage of all Nebraska matches on Huskers Radio Network affiliates, Huskers.com and the Huskers app.

Pittsburgh was the No. 1 overall seed, followed by Nebraska, Penn State and Louisville as the top four seeds. Should Nebraska advance past the second round, it would host an NCAA Regional on Dec. 12-15 at the Devaney Center. The national seeds in the same region as Nebraska are No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 10 Arizona State and No. 15 Baylor. The NCAA adopted a new regional format this season. Two of the four regionals will be played on Thursday and Saturday. The other two will be played on Friday and Sunday. Regional dates and times will not be announced until the conclusion of the second round.

Nebraska will be playing Florida A&amp;M for the second time ever. The Rattlers beat Nebraska on Sept. 10, 2004 in Lincoln en route to a 28-3 record that season. Florida A&amp;M went 19-0 in the SWAC this season and won the conference tournament with a 3-1 triumph over Jackson State.

Nebraska (29-2) won its 36th all-time conference title and fifth Big Ten title with a 19-1 record in Big Ten play after a 3-1 win at Maryland on Saturday night. The Huskers have played in six of the last nine NCAA Final Fours, including winning NCAA Championships in 2015 and 2017. Nebraska also won national titles in 1995, 2000 and 2006.

This year's NCAA Championship is set for December 19-22 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., where the Huskers already have won two times this season against No. 9 Kentucky on Aug. 27 and No. 4 Louisville on Sept. 22.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Huskers open NCAA Tournament against Florida A&M

Iowa City - Nebraska dominated Iowa on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, but fell 13-10 on a 53-yard walk-off field goal on Friday night.

Nebraska (6-6, 3-6) more than doubled Iowa in total yardage (334-164) and nearly doubled the Hawkeyes (8-4, 6-3) in time of possession (39:01-20:59) and total plays (76-41), but two bizarre lost fumbles in the second half were enough for the Hawkeyes to maintain the Heroes Trophy on a frigid night at Kinnick Stadium.

Nebraska built a 10-0 halftime lead and piled up 182 first-half yards while the Blackshirts held the Hawkeyes to just 20 yards on 20 plays. The Huskers forced a three-and-out by Iowa on the game's opening drive, before Raiola and the offense went on a 64-yard march that took 10 plays and culminated with <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/john-hohl">John Hohl</a>'s 31-yard field goal midway through the first quarter.

The rest of the half, Iowa played field position football, producing just one first down while trying to wear Nebraska down and force a mistake in the punt game or a turnover on offense. Iowa succeeded in shortening the game, but Nebraska played error-free football in the first half and took its final drive to the house to head to halftime with a 10-point lead.

The Huskers went up 10-0 on <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/dante-dowdell">Dante Dowdell</a>'s one-yard blast up the middle with 38 seconds left in the first half to cap a 12-play, 74-yard drive that consumed 4:01.

He completed six passes for 25 yards to <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/emmett-johnson">Emmett Johnson</a>, who also had 18 carries for a game-high 71 rushing yards. Dowdell added 13 carries for 50 yards, including his 12th rushing touchdown of the season. <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/rahmir-johnson">Rahmir Johnson</a> contributed 21 yards on four carries while adding one reception for five yards.

<a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/jahmal-banks">Jahmal Banks</a> hauled in four catches for a team-high 41 receiving yards, while tight end <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/nate-boerkircher">Nate Boerkircher</a> contributed two receptions for 39 yards. <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/jacory-barney-jr">Jacory Barney Jr.</a> added three receptions for 29 yards on the night.

Iowa finished with 49 rushing yards after entering the game with eight consecutive 200-yard rushing performances. Jackson Stratton went 8-for-15 through the air for 115 yards.

Nebraska started the second half with the ball and went on another long march. The 11-play drive started on Nebraska's 19 and ended on Iowa's 19, but resulted in a missed field goal by Hohl from 34 yards. The kick was wide left after an off-target snap that was saved by holder <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/brian-buschini">Brian Buschini</a> but the ball placement and timing of the kick was disrupted.

At the end of the third quarter, Nebraska's edge in total yardage grew to 267-65, but Iowa cut the lead to 10-3. Iowa got on the scoreboard with a field goal after a two-yard drive that started inside the Nebraska 5. The Hawkeyes gained possession on what was ruled a turnover on the field, although it was touched by neither the return man, nor the closest Nebraska player. Instead, it was recovered by Iowa's John Nestor at the NU 4. Nestor was in the act of recovering the football when <a href="https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/player/vincent-shavers-jr">Vincent Shavers Jr.</a> arrived to challenge him for it. The call on the field was that Shavers touched the ball before Nestor, and that call stood after video review.

In the fourth quarter, Iowa did manage to out-yard the Huskers, 99-67, with 72 coming on the first play of the quarter on the screen pass from Jackson Stratton to Kaleb Johnson to tie the score at 10.
