3:52pm UPDATE***&nbsp; The fatality victim from the December 5, 2023 single vehicle crash on Hwy 183 has been identified as Brock Smedra, age 47, of Miller, NE.  Next of kin have been notified.   

At approximately 12:14 AM on Tuesday December 5, 2023 deputies and EMS were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash approximately 7 miles north of Miller, NE that occurred on US Highway 183 in the northwest part of Buffalo County.&nbsp; The involved vehicle, an SUV, was traveling northbound, left the roadway, entered the west ditch, rolled, and the driver was ejected.&nbsp; 

The lone occupant was the driver who was transported from the scene to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney by AirCare medical helicopter.&nbsp; The driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.&nbsp; The Buffalo County Attorney’s Office has ordered an autopsy.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Deputies were assisted by members of the Kearney Police Department, Miller Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Sumner (SEM) ambulance, Good Samaritan Hospital paramedics and AirCare medical helicopter.&nbsp; Investigation continues by the Kearney / Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation Team.&nbsp; The identity of the victim will be forthcoming pending notification of next of kin.&nbsp;&nbsp;
