Dog killed in Tuesday night house fire outside of Kearney

Buffalo County - A dog was killed in a house fire that occurred Tuesday evening outside of Kearney according to officials.

In a post from the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), the Gibbon Volunteer Fire Department, Shelton Volunteer Fire Department and Kearney Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house Tuesday evening east of Kearney.

The BCSO says that all occupants were able to get out of the home safely, but a dog died from the fire. The fire appeared to be caused by a lightning strike.
