LINCOLN, Neb. — Jim Pillen has signed an executive order aimed at helping agricultural producers across Nebraska as wildfires continue to strain livestock feed supplies and essential resources.

The order comes in response to significant wildfire impacts that have disrupted feed availability and supply chains, creating urgent challenges for farmers and ranchers statewide.

Under the executive order, hours-of-service regulations for commercial motor carriers have been temporarily waived, and adjustments have been made to weight and load limits. These changes are intended to speed up the transportation of feed, hay, and other critical supplies to affected areas.

State officials say the goal is to ensure producers can quickly access the resources they need to maintain livestock health and operations during the emergency.

“Nebraska’s producers are facing a real need right now, and we have the responsibility to stand with our farmers and ranchers,” Governor Pillen said. “The faster we get feed and supplies where they’re needed, the more we can do to support our livestock industry.”

The executive order took effect immediately and will remain in place for 14 days, with the possibility of extension depending on conditions.

Agriculture leaders emphasize that timely delivery of feed and supplies will be critical in minimizing long-term impacts to the state’s livestock sector as recovery efforts continue.
