Troopers Find 33 LBs of Methamphetamine in I-80 Traffic Stop

(YORK, NEB.)  — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested two people after locating 33 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near York.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a trooper observed an eastbound Kia Sportage following another vehicle too closely on Interstate 80 near York. During the traffic stop, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.

A search of the vehicle revealed 33 pounds of methamphetamine contained in a duffle bag in the rear of the vehicle. Troopers also found a small amount of cocaine and marijuana.

The driver, Uriel Alcala, 29, of Perris, California, and Christofer Cruz, 30, of Lancaster, California, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to deliver. Both men were lodged in York County Jail.
