Nicholas Witt, of North Platte, passed away on December 27, 2025, at The Birch in Sutherland, at the age of 41. Born the youngest boy of seven children, Nicholas came into the world on June 16, 1984, in Norfolk, NE, the son of Elmer and Linda (Chrans) Witt.
As a child, Nicholas was the love of his mother’s life. He was ornery and wonderful all at the same time. His family moved from Norfolk to North Platte, where he was raised and attended North Platte Public Schools. After high school, Nicholas began his career in the food industry, working for Taco John’s, Another Round, and Applebee’s, as a cook. As he got older, Nicholas was known for his patience, compassion, and his sense of humor. He enjoyed watching stand-up comedy and playing pool, as well as, cheering on the San Francisco 49’ers. Nicholas was always the life of the party everywhere he went, and the peacekeeper of his family.
Survivors include his father, Elmer Witt of North Platte; siblings, BJ Zmolek or Arlington, SD, Melanie Hahne of Gregory, SD, Eric Witt of Sioux Falls, SD, Christopher Arneson of Columbus, Rick Arneson of North Platte, and Lynette Witt of North Platte; several nieces and nephews, and a world full of friends.
Nicholas is preceded in death by his mother, Linda; brother, Edward Arneson; both sets of grandparents; niece, Brittiny.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 10:30 AM at The Rock Church with Pastor Vaughn Fahrenbruck as officiant. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
