Oxford Fire/Rescue Department
Oxford Fire was dispatched to the 600 block of Central Street for a possible structure fire. Command 1 and Engine 32 were first on scene and confirmed a working fire. The first crew in made an interior attack and quickly extinguished the main fire. Mutual aid assistance was requested and sent from Beaver City, Edison and Arapahoe to assist with overhaul of the structure.
Investigation by the Oxford Fire Dept. and the Nebraska State Fire Marshal have determined the cause to be an accidental appliance ignition source. All occupants of the home escaped without injury, however their beloved pet dog had succumbed to smoke inhalation. The American Red Cross was notified to assist with recovery efforts. Oxford Fire asks that you please keep the family in your prayers as they begin recovery.
