Buffalo County - The driver / victim has been identified as Matthew W. Hoffman, age 20, of Kearney, NE. The vehicle involved was a 2015 BMW. Next of kin have been notified.

Original Story
The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding a single vehicle crash the resulted in the death of one adult male driver. The crash occurred at approximately 5:40 AM on Friday March 22, 2024.
According to preliminary investigation, a single vehicle was traveling southbound on Cottonmill Road located just West of Kearney, NE. The vehicle left the roadways, rolled and ejected the driver. There were no other occupants. The driver was located deceased at the scene. Authorities are working to confirm the identity of the driver. The crash occurred in the road ditch of Cottonmill Road in the area south of the Cottonmill Park entrance and north of the canal bridge.
Assisting deputies at the scene are members of the Kearney Police Department, Kearney / Buffalo County FAIT team, KVFD, GSH Paramedics, Buffalo County Highway Department and Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.
Next of kin have not been notified. The Buffalo County Attorney’s Office has ordered an autopsy. Investigation is ongoing at this time.
