OCTOBER 20, 2023 (LINCOLN, NEB.)  — As the Huskers return to action at Memorial Stadium this Saturday, the Nebraska State Patrol encourages fans to get their gameday focus ready for the second half of the football season.

“Gameday traffic means thousands of extra vehicles traveling to and from Lincoln,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “With Saturday’s double-header for Husker football and Husker volleyball, we urge all fans to drive safely whether you’re headed to Memorial Stadium, the Devaney Center, or both.”

The Nebraska State Patrol works closely with partner agencies on several aspects of gameday operations. Troopers partner with the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, UNL Police Department, and the Nebraska Department of Transportation to keep fans safe as they travel to and from the game, as well as in and around Memorial Stadium.

Troopers on patrol will be working to maintain safe travel on area roadways, with assistance from troopers in the NSP AirWing. Troopers will also escort the Husker football team from the team hotel to the stadium prior to the game and escort Coach Rhule on the field. Fans can hear radio traffic reports from Trooper Dave before and after the game on the Huskers Radio Network broadcasts.

During the first three home gamedays of the season, troopers made 10 arrests for driving under the influence in Lancaster County. NSP urges all motorists to always have a sober driver.
