RAWLINS COUNTY, Kan. —One person was injured in an accident during a police pursuit just before 3p.m. Friday in Rawlins County, Kansas.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported law enforcement were in pursuit of a 2012 Dodge Journey driven by Kayla Vonae Williams, 36, Omaha, Nebraska, northbound Kansas 117 six miles north of the U.S. 36 Junction at a high rate of speed.
The SUV traveled off the roadway to the left, struck a large dirt embankment, became disabled and caught on fire.
EMS transported Williams to the Rawlins County Health Center. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP. Authorities did not report what prompted the chase.
