Kearney Home a Total Loss After Thursday Night House Fire

Kearney, Neb. - Kearney Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) was dispatched to 220 Yanney Avenue for the report of a  structure fire. While in route, dispatch advised that the house was almost fully engulfed and there were no occupants in  the structure. Upon arrival KVFD established command and began fire attack.

A water shuttle operation was  established for water supply. The fire was brought under control at 20:03. The State Fire Marshal was requested to  assist with the fire origin and cause investigation. The cause remains under investigation, but the preliminary  investigation results indicates the fire was accidental and was caused by an electrical event in the area of the living room  on the first floor of the home. The home is a total loss.

Other agencies assisting at the scene were Buffalo County  Sheriff's Office, CHI Good Samaritan EMS, NPPD, & Black Hills Energy. No injuries were reported.
