JoDee Ann Westling passed peacefully in her home surrounded by those who loved her most December 28, 2025 in North Platte.
She was born June 5, 1956 to Edward and Joann (Guenin) Sullivan in Oshkosh, Nebraska. JoDee attended school in Oshkosh and graduated from Oshkosh High School with the Class of 1974. After graduation she moved to North Platte to attend North Platte Beauty Academy where she became a cosmetology instructor and after that worked at the Hairloft for many years.
JoDee met the love of her life, Steven Westling in 1976 and though JoDee found Steven to be too “nice” she quickly realized that Steven was her future husband. After 2 years of adventures together they officially tied the knot on November 4th, 1978, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. JoDee and Steven lived in Billings, Montana for a short time and then moved to North Platte where they decided this was the home where they wanted to build their life and family together.
JoDee had a zest for life and lived each day to its fullest! Her greatest passions were camping trips with the family, woodworking in her wood-shop and getting dirt under her finger nails in the garden and she even became a Master Gardener. In her later years of life, she became one of the greatest prayer warriors that many have ever known and she prayed for everyone she encountered.
Her deepest passion and one of her greatest joys in life was and always will be her family. JoDee and Steven raised 3 beautiful children and now are grandparents to 9 amazing grandkids. JoDee’s health had been a struggle for almost 27 years but even in the midst of pain and suffering, her husband, children and grandchildren brought her immense joy and always such a sparkle to her eye.
JoDee’s cornerstone and foundation of her life was her faith and love in Jesus Christ. She truly kept Christ at center of it all and God laid a calling on her life to ensure that the ProLife movement was known in North Platte and the surrounding areas. JoDee started volunteering at Birth Line in a basement in the late '80’s and helped the organization grow immensely over the years, and she helped forge the way in growing from a basement and phone line service to a physical building. Today it is now known as the Women’s Resource Center. She counseled many women over the years and saved countless lives of babies. She helped provide hope to families in times of need and unplanned pregnancies and followed God’s lead every step of the way.
JoDee was truly a one of kind person with a heart of gold. She is now dancing in heaven (she loved to dance) and watching over us all. JoDee touched so many lives and loved even deeper. She is a soul that will never be forgotten. Until we meet again!
