Kearney, Neb. – Junior Hanna Schimmer has been named to the 2024 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CAA) All-Central Region team.
The squad is voted upon by College Sports Communicators (CSC) with the Central consisting of the MIAA, Great American Conference (GAC) and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
Schimmer (Council Bluffs, Ia.) was one of 13 MIAA players tabbed as she earned second-team honors. She joins fellow forward Montanna Hosterman as the only Lopers to have named all-region. Hostermann was a third team pick on the coaches' squad back in 2015.One of the top offensive threats in the MIAA this fall, Schimmer set new school records for goals (10), shots (68), shots on goal (36) and converted PK's (three). The transfer from Midland and Iowa Western had three games with two goals to finish with 21 points. Finally, she helped UNK go 8-6-5 and reach the MIAA Tournament for the first time in nine years.
Central Oklahoma graduate forward Rebekah George was named the Region Player of the Year with the MIA having seven on the first team and six on the second team. A total of 25 players were chosen overall with first-team selections advancing to the national ballot where they could earn All-American status.
