Tri-City Storm Goaltender Cameron Korpi has been named the USHL’s Goaltender of the Week for Week 1 of the 2023-2024 Regular Season following his performance at the 2023 DICK’S Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic last week. Korpi backstopped the Storm to back-to-back victories at the event to open play in this year’s sixty-two-game regular season.

Cameron Korpi, 19, Goaltender, of South Lyon, Michigan, has been awarded the USHL’s Goaltender of the Week award for the third time in his career. He did not allow an even-strength goal in either appearance in net for Tri-City at this year’s edition of the Fall Classic. Youngstown’s lone goal in Wednesday night’s season-opening game was scored on a six-on-five attack with an extra attacker on the ice. Sioux Falls’ only scoring play in Thursday’s matchup against Tri-City was recorded on the powerplay. Korpi turned away 23 of 24 shots faced during Tri-City’s 2-1 win over the defending Clark Cup Champion Youngstown Phantoms in the team’s season-opener on Wednesday night. He made 33 saves on 34 shots the next night in the Storm’s thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede. His Save Percentage (SV%) of .966% currently leads all USHL goaltenders. Korpi also posted the best Goals Against Average (0.98) of any goaltender at this year’s Fall Classic. His two goals allowed were the fewest of any goaltender who played multiple games in the event. Korpi previously announced a commitment to play collegiate hockey in the future at Western Michigan University.

It’s always nice to get off to a hot start. I thought our team was unbelievable, whether it was holding a lead against a really good team, or coming back late against another really good team we battled. I spent more time this summer in the gym, and I worked a lot on reading plays at a higher level. I’m also trying not to move as much in the net if I don’t have to and use my size to my advantage. My goal this season is to win a championship, and I think we have a group that’s got a great chance to do that.” – Goaltender Cameron Korpi

Cameron was excellent in both games at the Fall Classic. He had a great summer, and it was nice to see him get rewarded with results in those games.”- President of Hockey Operations/Head Coach Anthony Noreen

Since the first day of training camp, Cameron has set the tone for himself and the team with the way he competes and prepares. He had a fantastic summer, and it has shown in his early-season success.”- Goaltending Coach Matt Zaba
