Since 2017, KCAD has partnered with Ogallala Public Schools and Paxton Consolidated Schools to offer Exploring Careers and Education Locally (EXCEL) Tours for area high school students. These tours were created to connect students with local businesses and career opportunities while showcasing the wide range of industries available in Keith County. By providing early exposure to career pathways, EXCEL helps students make informed decisions about their post-secondary education while also encouraging them to consider building their future here at home as part of the local workforce.

“For the past six years in my role as Counselor, Ogallala High School has partnered with KCAD to provide our freshman students the opportunity to tour local businesses and learn more about the career opportunities available in Ogallala. This collaboration not only introduces students to what our community has to offer, but also strengthens the connection between our school and local businesses, encouraging students to return and contribute to our workforce in the future. Working with KCAD has been a rewarding experience, and I greatly value the resources and opportunities they bring to our community.” - Jennifer Bekke, Ogallala High School Counselor.

“We, at Paxton Schools, have really enjoyed being a part of the EXCEL Tours that KCAD has generously put on for our Freshmen. It has been great exposure for the kids (and sponsors) to see what businesses and possible job opportunities they could be a part of in Keith County, after they graduate. It is important for students to realize that they could have a good paying job without going to college, if that is what they are interested in doing. We appreciate this opportunity for our students to participate in. Thank you!” - Jean Spencer, Paxton Consolidated Schools School Counselor.
