The Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) announces their 16th annual Radon Poster Contest winners. Students aged 9 to 14 made posters about the hazards of radon gas, which is the second leading cause of cancer. Entries were judged in December and presentations were held at four schools in January for Radon Action Month.

“The radon poster contest offers a fun opportunity for students to understand the elevated radon levels we face here in Nebraska and the actions we can take to address it,” says Hunter York, Program Manager at SWNPHD. “The creativity displayed by the students is impressive. We extend our congratulations to all participants for their efforts in educating our communities about the dangers of radon and ways to lower the risk of lung cancer.”
