OGALLALA, Neb. — Authorities have identified the man recovered from Lake McConaughy this week as a 38-year-old from Houston, Texas.
Nebraska Game and Parks officials said an autopsy confirmed Armando Marroquin drowned at the reservoir. The case remains under investigation.
Conservation officers responded Sunday evening after receiving a report of an overturned kayak near the Lemoyne Bay boat ramp. Multiple agencies searched with sonar until nightfall and resumed the effort Monday morning after a storm moved through the area. Marroquin’s body was recovered around 1:05 p.m. MT by the Keystone Lemoyne Fire and Rescue dive team.
Game and Parks urged boaters, kayakers and paddleboarders to wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets while on the water. State law requires a life jacket on board for each person, and children 12 and under must wear one at all times.
