Balanced offense, strong defense again leads to Loper victory

The ninth-ranked Nebraska Kearney volleyball team hit a season-best .421 to easily roll past the Fort Hays State Tigers (-16, -9, -8) Tuesday night in Kansas.The Lopers (18-1, 8-1) push its win streak to 10 in a row and have also won 16 straight sets. The competition ratchets up Friday night when No. 27 Central Missouri (11-5, 8-0) comes to town. The Jennies have won six consecutive matches and are 4-0 in true road matches.To improve to 99-9 all-time against Hays (7-11, 1-8), UNK smashed home 39 kills in just 76 attempts. The Tigers blocked six attempts with the Lopers only having one unforced error. Earlier this fall, UNK hit .417 vs. St. Martin's (Wash.), .413 at Emporia State and an even .400 against Western Colorado.Balance once again was the key as seven players were between three and eight kills. Kansas sophomore middle Abby Rose had a team-best eight and hit .667, Kansas junior outside Asha Regier provided seven and hit .462 with Alliance senior outside Emersen Cyza at six kills and a .462 efficiency.Hays became the second straight foe to hit below zero (-.012) as they had 24 kills and 25 errors in 86 swings. The Blue & Gold had five team blocks while digging up 32 balls. In the backrow, Lincoln senior libero Lauren Taubenheim had nine digs, Kansas junior Addy Mock added eight with Lincoln right side Jaden Ferguson at seven. She also had five kills, a block, ace and assist.
