A fugitive was taken into custody Wednesday evening following a brief standoff in Ogallala.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, investigators received information that a man with numerous active warrants was inside a residence in Ogallala. When authorities attempted to make contact, the subject barricaded himself inside the home.
The Nebraska State Patrol SWAT Team was activated, and after approximately two hours of attempted communication, an uninvolved person exited the residence and confirmed the suspect remained inside.
Shortly afterward, the suspect, identified as 56-year-old Rick Reeves, exited the residence voluntarily and was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities say Reeves had active warrants for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, habitual criminal, theft, flight to avoid arrest, possession of a controlled substance, burglary, and attempted Class IV felony. He was lodged in the Keith County Jail.
The Ogallala Police Department assisted in the response.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
