(McCook, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will progress to the next phases on Feb. 24, on the bridge project located west of McCook and east of Perry Grain on US-6.
Work will continue on the bridge located at reference post 82.59 on US-6, one mile west of McCook, while a separate crew will begin work on the bridge located at reference post 81.21 on US-6, two miles west of McCook, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Simons Contractors, Inc. of North Platte is the prime contractor for this project. Work includes bridge reconstruction, box culvert construction, grading, concrete paving, earth shoulder construction, and seeding. Traffic will be maintained with lane restrictions and temporary traffic signals at both bridge locations. Additionally, flaggers with a pilot car may be used for short periods of time. Traffic will be reduced to one 13-foot wide lane at both bridge locations during construction. A width restriction will be in effect. The anticipated completion is July 2025.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
