Nebraska Association of County Officials
Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO) will celebrate National County Government Month during the month of April. This month, we acknowledge and commend the essential work that our 93 counties do to make Nebraska a great place to live and work. Elected and appointed county officials work tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver vital services to Nebraskans, and they take pride in all that they do to represent and advocate for the best interests of their residents.
NACO is proud to participate in National County Government Month by engaging with counties across the United States to help promote the county workforce, encourage civic engagement, and raise awareness of the essential functions of county governments.
“Counties are the linchpins of our society,” said NACO Executive Director Jon Cannon. “County government cares for the things everyone uses or relies on every day – whether it’s roads, law enforcement, elections, or beyond. While everyone reads about what happens in Washington and Lincoln, it’s your local counties which have the greatest effect on your daily life. County officials are your friends, family, and neighbors. We encourage every Nebraskan to recognize the tremendous work our county officials and employees do for our communities.”
We urge county officials, employees, residents, and schools to join us in celebrating National County Government Month by checking out our How Nebraska Counties Work resource hub where you can access valuable information about your county. We also encourage you to show us what your county is doing for County Government Day – send in your photos or information on programming and events so that we can help you celebrate!
