(North Platte, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will resume March 31 on U.S. Highway 83 (US-83), from reference post 61.81 to reference post 77.14, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Western Engineering Company, Inc., of Harlan, Iowa, is the contractor for this project. Work remaining includes earth shoulder construction, seeding, rumble strips and permanent pavement markings. Traffic will be maintained with lane restrictions and a pilot car and flaggers. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is June 2025.
The purpose of this project is to preserve the transportation asset, improve the reliability of the transportation system and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
