Alliance, Ne – According to the Alliance Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3am on Saturday morning to Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance for a report of a male who had been assaulted. Officers arrived and observed the victim to have sustained possible life-threatening injuries. The initial investigation revealed that the suspect drove the victim to the hospital after the assault. Witnesses stated that the suspect punched the victim repeatedly after a verbal argument escalated.
The victim fell to the ground, striking his head on the pavement. The suspect continued to strike the victim several times until a witness intervened. The suspect then drove the victim to the hospital and did not disclose that he had caused the injuries to the victim. The suspect was identified as Dreyson McCormick of Alliance. Following interview with all witnesses, McCormick was located and taken into custody without incident. The victim remains in critical condition.
McCormick is currently being held in the Box Butte County Jail where he is facing a charge of First-Degree Assault.
