&nbsp; &nbsp; Sherry Waline (Weber) Cotton, age 88, passed peacefully into heaven surrounded by all her children on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska. She was a caring, faithful person loved by all who had the joy of knowing her.

Born on February 24, 1936, in McCook, Nebraska to Walter &amp; Lucille (Wagner) Weber, she spent her youth in McCook attending various primary schools before graduating from McCook High School in 1954.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Sherry married her first husband in the fall of 1954 in McCook, Nebraska and worked at Hestad’s Variety Store, Sears, and was the bookkeeper for McCook Packing Plant. After 11 years this marriage ended.

&nbsp; &nbsp; On November 18, 1965, Sherry married Paul Cotton in McCook and became a loving mother to his three children Dale, Judy and Jane. To this union were born three additional children, David, Patricia, and Sonya. The family lived on a farm south of McCook until moving to Missouri in 1967, settling in Coffey, Missouri in 1971. She was a homemaker who also enjoyed watching several of the neighborhood children. Sherry loved cooking and baking and was well known in the community for her cinnamon rolls. She spent time in many kitchens over the years having owned Cotton’s Café, cooking at the Gallatin Senior Center, Coffey School, McCook Senior Center, and Kinship Pointe. She also enjoyed volunteering and delivered meals on wheels, drove the Handi bus, and made lap blankets for the elderly.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Through the entirety of her life, Sherry was very strong in her faith and lived her life devoted to God. She read her bible every day and attended church every Sunday for as long as she was able.

&nbsp; &nbsp; One of Sherry’s greatest loves was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and traveling with her sister, Jean Elley. Over the years Sherry lived near her family in Missouri, Iowa, and ended up returning to McCook, Nebraska in 2018.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Sherry was preceded in death by her Husband; Parents; Sister, Genevieve Kuck, Sisters-in-law, Lucille Stitt, Juanita Weber, and Henrietta Weber; Brothers-in-law, Bruce Kuck, Glen Stitt, and Bill Elley; Nephews, Tim Elley, Bob Fouts, and Keith Weber.

&nbsp; &nbsp; She will be greatly missed by her children, Dale (Gloria) Cotton, McCook, NE, Judy Cotton, McCook, NE, Jane (Jim) Martin, McCook, NE, David (Heather) Cotton, Smithville, MO, Patricia (Vince) McWilliams, Bates City, MO, Sonya (Jason) Dailey, West Linn, OR; Grandchildren: Holly (Brent) Paulsen, Jonathan Cotton, Megan (Jason) Dudley, Sarah Cotton, Shelbie Gaskin, Kanoa Gaskin, Steven (Amanda) Harmon, Stacia (Richard) Fuller, Sommer (Sam) Lairson, Cameron (Lindsey) McWilliams, Rebekah (Eric) Pierson, Emah (Dylan) Herrington, Salinah (Gage) Coil, Jordan (Maddie) Dailey, Brandon Dailey and 34 Great-Grandchildren; Brothers, Leroy (Sandy) Weber, Moses Lake, WA, Larry (Suzan) Weber, Franktown, CO, and her sister, Jean Elley, Vestavia, AL.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Sherry's family will great friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Roberson Funeral Home (1107 South 25th Street, Bethany, MO 64424). Interment in the Coffey Cemetery will follow services.

Sherry W. Cotton (1936-2024)

Marjorie M. (Smith) Schneider, 89, of Callaway, NE died peacefully August 10, 2024 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, NE surrounded by her family. Marjorie was born July 8, 1935 in Kearney, NE to James and Bessie (Vangreen) Smith of rural Callaway. She was named for Marjorie (Stryker) Edgington, a country school teacher who had boarded with her parents. Marjorie attended Sand Valley Country School through 8th grade across the road from the farm where she lived since age eight, west of Callaway. She then attended Callaway High School where she graduated in 1952 as Valedictorian. Having taken normal teacher training during high school, Marjorie taught at a country school west of Callaway for a year after graduating in order to save money to go to college. She then attended Kearney State College to become a teacher. Marjorie filled in for a teacher on maternity leave in January 1955 in Cozad. She taught 1st grade at Cozad for a year and a half. She had planned to take a teaching job in Minden, but met the love of her life, Alex W. Schneider of Cozad. They were married August 11, 1956 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Callaway. Marjorie taught 4th grade in Cozad for another year before she and Alex moved home to Marjorie’s family farm west of Callaway.&nbsp;

After Marjorie’s father passed away in 1956, Marjorie and Alex farmed and ranched and raised their three children on the same homestead where Marjorie was raised. Marjorie returned to Kearney State College and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1969. She taught 5th grade at Callaway from 1969 to 1996. Marjorie was a substitute teacher at Callaway Elementary School for several years after she retired. Marjorie was also a voracious reader. She read scripture daily and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Marjorie devoted her life to loving her family and helping people at school, at church and in the community of Callaway.

In 1986, Alex and Marjorie received the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award from Knights of AK-SAR-BEN honoring the Edward Smith Homestead, whose family owned the same farm for 100 years, thus contributing a century of loyal service to the development of Nebraska agriculture.

Marjorie and Alex enjoyed fishing and socializing with their friends at Van’s Lakeview at Lake McConaughy until 2019. Marjorie received Master Angler awards for catching a qualifying white bass in 1995 and walleye in 1999. Alex and Marjorie also enjoyed traveling across the United States as well as to Mexico, El Salvador, Rome and Germany. Marjorie was famous for baking cookies and zucchini bread for friends and family. She also canned vegetables from their enormous garden.&nbsp;

&nbsp;After her husband Alex passed away Marjorie moved to Park Ridge Assisted Living in Grant, NE to be closer to her daughters. She enjoyed getting cards, letters, phone calls and visits from friends and family. She liked to watch Husker Volleyball and Let’s Make A Deal on TV. Marjorie was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Callaway American Legion Auxiliary Post 59.

Survivors include her son, Alex James (Jackie) Schneider of Lincoln: daughters Sheri (Jack) Chittenden of Paxton and Connie Holz of Ogallala; sister, Jody Farmer of Sidney; grandchildren Jon (Kelsey) Chittenden of Yutan, Leanne (Jeremy) Orlowski of Lincoln, Jessica (Matt) Deaver of Grant and Alex (Addison) Schneider of Lincoln; eight great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Alex, her parents, her infant siblings Terrence and Mary Smith, and her son-in-law Denton Holz.

Marjorie Marie Schneider (1935-2024)

Karen Eileen Davison of Lincoln, NE passed away at home on Monday, July 29, 2024. Karen was born on April 28, 1956, to John and Barbara (McGahan) Olivigni in Oxford, NE. The family eventually moved to Lewellen, NE where she attended public schools and graduated from LRHS in May 1974.

In June, 1972, Karen met her future husband, Larry Davison, at a cattle branding located near Oshkosh, NE. Larry joined the Army in March 1973. Karen and Larry were married in Ogallala, NE on June 15, 1974. They made their first home together at Ft. Bliss Texas (El Paso) until January 1975. Larry received orders to report to Camp Humphreys, South Korea in December 1974 and Karen went with him and they stayed in Korea for 14 months.

They returned to Ogallala in 1976 and later moved to North Platte. On January 22, 1981, they welcomed their daughter Alyssa Ann Davison into this world.&nbsp;Shortly after, they moved to Ft. Sill, OK so Larry could attend more military&nbsp;training. After the training they moved back to North Platte until the spring of&nbsp;1982, when Karen, Larry and Alyssa moved to Chadron NE to attend college. Karen and Larry both graduated from CSC in December, 1985. Karen graduated with summa cum laude honors.

While Larry was attending another military school at Ft. Sill, OK, in 1986, Karen got a job with the Social Security Administration in Lawton, OK. Eventually, she applied and was hired by SSA in Lincoln, NE and they moved to Lincoln in 1987. In 2011, Karen retired from SSA and went to work for a local law firm until Larry retired and they moved to Clermont, FL. It was always her dream to live by the ocean and that is what she did for three years. Eventually they moved back to Lincoln to be with family, friends and doctors in 2023.

Karen enjoyed traveling, gardening, attending concerts, with Bon Jovi being at the top of the list. She and Larry attended two Bon Jovi concerts during the same weekend a few years ago. Karen and Larry loved Disney World and visited as often as they could. Karen was especially proud of the medal she earned for completing the Walt Disney World half-marathon. She also liked visiting Sunken Gardens in Lincoln, reading, spending time at the beach with her two sisters each&nbsp;year, playing board and card games and was a skilled Mahjongg player, playing online and in local groups in Florida and Nebraska. She also was a member of a local bible study group in Lincoln. She was an avid supporter of the Hearts United for Animals in Auburn, NE. Karen liked dogs and absolutely loved her Pomeranian, Riley!

Karen is proceeded in death by her parents, father-in-law Clarence Davison, brother-in-law Don Davison, and sister-in-law Pearl Davison.

Those she left behind are her husband Larry, daughter Alyssa and fiancé Mathew Kister, Riley (Pomeranian), sisters Lisa Olivigni, Lorna (Steve) Triplett, brother Fran (Lynne) Olivigni, mother-in-law Doris Imogene Davison, and brothers-in-law Rod Davison, Steve (Kay) Davison, Kevin Davison, Kent (Jeannine) Davison, and Monte (Shawna) Davison, many nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Carpenter Memorial Chapel on 10:00 am August 16, 2024 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

Inurnment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Karen Davison (1956-2024)

TIMOTHY H. SCHULZ, 62, of Ogallala, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the Methodist Hospital of Omaha.

Tim was born January 4, 1962, in Sidney, Nebraska, to Henry and Louise (Pieper) Schulz. He graduated from Ogallala High School. He briefly attended UNL, where he studied engineering.

On October 23, 1982, Tim married Mindy Mueller at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala. The couple made their home in Ogallala and were blessed with two girls: Timarie and Tiffany.

Tim worked as a truck driver and mover for Chief Transfer and Storage for a number of years. The company was owned by his parents, and Tim appreciated the time he spent with them over the years. In 2002, Tim became disabled, and his health necessitated a change of pace.

Tim loved his family and grandchildren immensely. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish with his dogs. He had a gentle heart and a great love of animals. He had a particular soft spot for dogs and always kept one or two hunting dogs. Tim also had many horses over the years and loved to spend time riding. He enjoyed swimming, boating, and skiing and always treasured his time spent at the lake, whether for the weekend or just sneaking away for part of the day to go windsurfing.

Tim was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, where he had served as a lector and was a member of the Knights of Columbus before his health issues.

Tim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mindy, in 2019; his parents and parents-in-law; brother-in-law Jonathan Proudfit; sister-in-law Barb Mueller; and niece, Jessica Eidem.

 </figure>TIMOTHY H. SCHULZ, 62, of Ogallala, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the Methodist Hospital of Omaha.Tim was born January 4, 1962, in Sidney, Nebraska, to Henry and Louise (Pieper) Schulz. He graduated from Ogallala High School. He briefly attended UNL, where he studied engineering.On October 23, 1982, Tim married Mindy Mueller at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala. The couple made their home in Ogallala and were blessed with two girls: Timarie and Tiffany.Tim worked as a truck driver and mover for Chief Transfer and Storage for a number of years. The company was owned by his parents, and Tim appreciated the time he spent with them over the years. In 2002, Tim became disabled, and his health necessitated a change of pace.Tim loved his family and grandchildren immensely. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish with his dogs. He had a gentle heart and a great love of animals. He had a particular soft spot for dogs and always kept one or two hunting dogs. Tim also had many horses over the years and loved to spend time riding. Timothy Henry Schulz (1962-2024)

Clyde Allan Barry, 89, of Venango, passed away on August 9, 2024, at the Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke.

Clyde was born April 7, 1935, in Ovid, Colorado, to Wilbur and Susan (Keime) Barry. He graduated from Sedgwick High School with the class of 1954.

On July 19, 1956, Clyde married Shirley E. Henni at her parents' home in Venango. The couple made their home in Venango and were blessed with four children: Steve, David, Kathy, and Sheri.

Clyde worked for the Perkins County Department of Roads for over 40 years, most of which as District 3 Foreman. Clyde retired at the age of 73 and immensely enjoyed following his grandchildren in all of their endeavors.

Clyde was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Venango. He was a longtime member of the Venango Volunteer Fire Department, where he had served for 40 years.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sheri Bazan, and grandson, James Arias.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Shirley of Venango; children Steve (Theresa) Barry of Ogallala, David (Jill) Barry of Grant, and Kathy (Joe) Arias of Greeley, CO; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; sister Shirley A. Barry of Sterling, CO; and several cousins and other relatives.

Clyde Allan Barry (1935-2024)

Doyle&nbsp;McDougal of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 9, 2024, at age 77.

Doyle, the son of Lyndon and Kathryn McDougal, was born September 16, 1946, in Colby, Kansas. &nbsp;He grew up working with his older brother and dad on the family farm in Atwood, Kansas. &nbsp;Doyle later graduated from Goodland, Kansas Vo-Tech as an auto body technician. &nbsp;

In February of 1968, Doyle was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. &nbsp;After his honorable discharge he returned to Kansas where he owned Doyle's Body Shop in Atwood for a few years.&nbsp;

On November 30, 1985, Doyle married Imogene Long in Atwood, KS. &nbsp;They became a family with Imogene's son, Marshall Siruta, then were blessed with a daughter, Sheila. The family lived in Atwood before moving to Lexington where Doyle worked for Tenneco in Cozad until the plant closed.

Their retirement years were spent in Valentine, then North Platte to be close to their daughter and her family. &nbsp;Doyle was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. &nbsp;He enjoyed working on cars, going camping, and spoiling his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene; his parents, Lyndon and Kathryn McDougal; and brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Deanna McDougal.

Doyle is survived by his daughter, Sheila Newland (Jeffrey) of North Platte; stepson, Marshall Siruta of Goodland, KS; grandsons, Nicholas, Nathan, Carter and Caleb Newland; step-granddaughters, Megan Unger (Mitch) of Oberlin, KS, and Jordan Doetker of Culbertson; his sisters, Lynda Wendelin (Lawrence) of Gothenburg and Eunice Dillinger (Don) of Ellis, KS; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Doyle McDougal (1946-2024)

Bruce Andrew Gordon, 85, of North Platte passed away August 7, 2024 at his home, with family by his side. He was born December 15, 1938 to Billie and Thelma (Bandy) Gordon in Alliance, NE.

Bruce was raised in the Rackett community of Garden County where he attended rural schools, and graduated from Lewellen Rural High School in 1956. Bruce married Carol Benzen on August 25th, 1957. Bruce worked for his family’s ranch, a few other ranches and a fencing contractor, living in Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado. Bruce and Carol had three children, Pamela Sue, Timothy Bruce, and Polly Mae. In 1967, Bruce became a Brand Inspector for the State of Nebraska. He began working for the Brand Committee in Scottsbluff, and was relocated to Red Cloud, then Franklin, and later, North Platte. Cattlemen in the area valued his work ethic and ease of working their cattle. Bruce met his companion Anna Goodman in 1990, they shared many trail rides and their love for horses and dogs. He retired from the Nebraska Brand Committee at the age of 62. He may have been “retired” but he went to work as an estate caretaker for his neighbor and good friend, Kevin. Bruce loved being outdoors, his horses and pets, he took in strays and adopted quite a few rescue dogs, who became family members. He had a great love and respect for horses. He trained many, and had an excellent eye for a horse with a good mind and confirmation. His skills with horses were valued by those that knew him, and he spent many years sharing that knowledge with the local 4-H club. Bruce loved to fish and hunt, especially deer, antelope, pheasant, and duck. He and Tim took many week-long trips camping and fishing, and he hunted at the Newcastle Wyoming ranch where his Dad and brother lived for many years. Bruce loved attending rodeos, especially watching the athleticism of the animals, with a special affinity for the bucking bulls, bucking horses, and barrel horses. He took Polly to a 4H horse show, horse sale or rodeo, whenever he could. Bruce was very private and thoughtful, with always a smile for everyone.

Survivors include children, Tim (Rhonda) Gordon of Oakland, Arkansas, Polly (Clayton Colson) Dimmitt of Pierre, South Dakota; Grandchildren, Brenna and Gracie of Pierre; companion, Anna Goodman of North Platte; sibling, Linda Johnson of Cambridge; numerous other family members and friends.

Bruce Gordon (1938-2024)

Thomas L. Burrell, aged 92 of Max, Nebraska, passed away August 6, 2024, at the Imperial Manor in Imperial, Nebraska. Thomas was born on February 12, 1932, in Stratton, Nebraska, to parents Henry P. and Myrtle J. Clements Burrell. Thomas grew up near Max, Nebraska, where he attended school and graduated from Parks High School in 1950.

&nbsp;Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy on February 13, 1951.&nbsp; He was assigned to the USS Scabbardfish SS 397. Tom was honorably discharged on February 11, 1955, and was very proud to have served his country.

&nbsp;Soon after his discharge from the service, Tom took a farm job near Oberlin, Kansas, where he met his future wife Glenva Beneda. Tom and Glenva were married on April 8, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Oberlin, Kansas. To this union, five children were born. The couple soon moved near to Max, Nebraska. Tom worked for Raichart Ranch then moved to McCook for a short time where he was employed with Permastone. In April of 1956, the couple moved to the George Russell farmstead and started farming. On September 14, 1958, the couple were blessed with their first child, a daughter Karmin and then followed by four sons: Monte, Todd, Clay and Clint. Tom’s greatest joys were spending time with his family. The family all worked together tending to the farm jobs. Tom spent many hours taking his young family fishing.

&nbsp;Tom and Glenva enjoyed their kids’ school and sports events, rarely missing anything they were involved in. Tom dearly loved his grandchildren and attended their school and sports activities when possible. Tom also enjoyed several of the grandsons and granddaughter helping on the farm at harvest time and putting up hay.

&nbsp;In 1972, Tom received the Outstanding Young Farmer award. Tom served on the Benkelman School Board for eight years as well as several other county boards. When he began to cut down on his farm work, he started on his woodworking, making many beautiful pieces of furniture and wall shelves for all of his family.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two half sisters Mary Selby and Louida Selby, his brother-in-law Harve Selby and an aunt and uncle Gladys and Horace Clements, who he lived with after his parents’ death.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Those left to celebrate Tom’s life are his wife Glenva of over 68 years, sons Monte (Julie) Burrell of Wauneta, NE, Todd (Julie) Burrell of Benkelman, NE, Clay Burrell of Benkelman, NE, Clint Burrell of Parks, NE, daughter Karmin (Cliff) Church of Rapid City, SD, two brothers-in-law Orlin and Elvin Beneda of Oberlin, KS, eight grandchildren Justin Church of Greeley, CO, Leah (Matt) Harris of Chadron, NE, Cade Burrell of Kearney, NE, Carson (Bethany) Burrell of Hickman, NE, Leslie (Trevor) Franzen of Salina, KS, Morgan (Jenna) Burrell of Benkelman, NE, Taryn Burrell of Cozad, NE, Nolan (Riley Bortner, girlfriend) of Kearney, NE, eight great grandchildren Gavin and Garrett Harris, Amelia, Ella, Olivia and Thomas Franzen, Charlotte and Ava Burrell.&nbsp;

Anna was born to Karl and Klara (Kraus) Klein on September 15th, 1936 in Rammelsbach Germany, where she grew up and completed trade school to become a seamstress.&nbsp;

Anna met and married Shelton Denisse in Rammelsbach in 1954. He brought her to the United States one year later. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a United States citizen! Shelton’s military career took them to California, Colorado, North Carolina, and Frankfurt Germany before settling in Ogallala, Nebraska. She worked at TRW for several years and enjoyed babysitting.&nbsp;

Anna enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing cards, and animals. She loved going out to brunch with family and friends. She was active in the community and volunteered her time at the nursing home and church. She was a member of the Altar Society and Ladies Guild.&nbsp;

Anna is survived by four children, one sister, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one granddaughter, two grandsons, and one great-grandson.&nbsp;

Inurnment will take place at Ogallala Cemetery in Ogallala, Nebraska at a later date.

Isabelle McCandless, age 91 formerly of Merna, NE, passed away August 6, 2024, at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Anselmo, NE with Father Jim Hunt celebrant. The burial will follow in the Arnold Cemetery at Arnold, NE. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, then from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Anselmo. Isabelle Kathryn McCandless was born November 30, 1932, at home, south of Arnold, NE, to Oscar and Mary (Thinnes) Brestel. She grew up with her 5 brothers and attended country school at Pine Canyon and Spring Creek, graduating from Callaway High School in 1950.&nbsp;

She attended Nebraska Teachers College at Kearney and taught at several country schools. While staying with host family Roy and Ruby McCandless and teaching at Pleasant Hill School, she met their son, Billy McCandless, who often helped her grade papers. They were married on December 28, 1955. To this union 6 daughters were born.

They moved to Ortello Valley where they farmed until Billy’s tragic death in an airplane accident while hunting on December 4, 1966. Isabelle continued to milk cows, raise chickens, and tend to a garden. In the fall of 1971, the family moved to Merna, where she worked at Anselmo-Merna High School until her retirement in 1996. Isabelle raised all 6 girls on her own with the help of her family and her faith.

Isabelle was involved in Catholic Daughters and Altar Society, Sewing for Babies and Quilts of Valor. She volunteered with Hospice and the Broken Bow Hospital Rummage Sale. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing and her beautiful work will continue to be enjoyed by so many. Isabelle enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and was a wonderful piano player.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Billy, his parents, Roy and Ruby; brothers, Bob, Gene and Roger Brestel, sister Elizabeth Mae Brestel; Grandson Cole Arnold and Great Granddaughter Leyna Gilligan. Also preceding her were sisters-in-law Mary Jane Brestel and Darla Brestel, brothers-in-law, Eldon, Nick and Terry Troy McCandless.

She is survived by her loving daughters: BJ (Rod) Baxter, Pamela (Ben) Gilligan, Louise (Tyke) Arnold, Cynthia (Paul) Christen, Julie (Jerry) McCaslin and Peggy (Jeff) Steele. Also surviving Isabelle are brothers, Ken Brestel, Dick (Nadine) Brestel, sisters-in-law Joyce Brestel, Shirley Brestel, Connie McCandless and Joleen Stewart. Isabelle is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, 24 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Isabelle’s home was always filled with joy, humor, great food, sewing and sports. She enjoyed every moment and took life as it came. Her hugs were calming, reassuring and tight. Think of her laugh and smile when you hear a great joke or a kind quote and if you catch a great baseball, football or volleyball game or watch an old movie. Isabelle touched the lives of hundreds who feel honored to have known her. Her faith, love, strength, courage and the legacy she leaves behind is unforgettable. Remember all of the little things that made Isabelle one-of-a-kind, and she’ll live on as we do.&nbsp;

Isabelle McCandless (1932-2024)

Bobbie Jean Daiss Tickle, 73, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2024, in Laguna Woods, CA.

Born in Imperial, NE, on July 10, 1951, Bobbie was the youngest of Obert and Margaret Daiss's four children. She grew up on the family farm south of Grant, NE, and attended school in Grant where she met the love of her life, Marv Tickle. After graduating from Grant High School in 1969, she attended Kearney State College before marrying Marv in 1970. They enjoyed the next 53 years together as husband and wife.

Bobbie was the full-time mother of two children, Anthony and Ryan. She and Marv raised their boys in Greeley, CO, and then North Platte, NE. Bobbie was endlessly supportive of her sons, who are eternally grateful for her love and encouragement through school, sports, and life.

Outside of her family, she worked in various positions at several institutions including, Rose Insurance Agency, McDonald Elementary School, and the North Platte First Baptist Church.

Bobbie loved playing the piano, singing in church choirs, gardening, swimming, golfing, and attending various sporting events. She also loved to travel and explore, orchestrating her family's annual vacations, including trips to Kansas City Royals baseball games and Lake McConaughy, and skiing in the Rocky Mountains. In 2007, she and Marv relocated from North Platte to Laguna Woods, CA, where they both worked as gate ambassadors for their community until their retirement in 2023. In recent years, Bobbie loved road trips back to Nebraska to visit family, strolling through the Sawdust Art Festival, and sipping glasses of wine at The Cliff restaurant in Laguna Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Obert and Margaret Daiss, and her brother, Bill Daiss.

Bobbie is survived by many family members who will cherish her memory: her husband, Marvin of Laguna Woods, CA; her sons, Anthony (Lisa) of Omaha, NE and Ryan (Ashley Larson) of Pomona, CA; her grandchildren, Lance Tickle and Lexy (Drake) Korb of Omaha, NE; and her great-grandchild, Westin Korb of Omaha; her sisters, Fran Friehauf (Noel Griffith) of Prescott, AZ and Karolyn Brown (Larry) of North Platte, NE; and sister-in-law Jeanie Daiss of Grant, NE.

Bobbie J Tickle (1951-2024)

Charles Walter “Shot” (Erny) Kenton hung up his cowboy hat for the last time here on Earth, August 1, 2024. He was born June 12, 1951, to Genevieve Hamilton (Erny) Kenton and the late Charles Walter Erny, in Alliance, Nebraska. He spent his childhood growing up in Thedford, Broken Bow, Kearney, and Lexington with his mother and her children, Cathy, Deb, Sherri, Tammy, and Fred. After his grandfather’s death, the family returned to the family ranch, north of Thedford. In his high school years, he attended Thedford High School where he was in the graduating class of 1969. During this time is when he began one of his favorite rodeo sports, Bareback Bronc riding. In 1968, his junior year, he competed at the Nebraska State High School Rodeo finals where he won the chance to compete at the National High School Rodeo finals in Topeka, Kansas.&nbsp;

&nbsp;In 1994, he was united in marriage to Cindy (Burnham) Huffman from Burwell, and they made their home on the ranch north of Thedford.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Shot’s life mainly consisted of being on the back of a horse. From Bareback and Saddle Bronc riding to team roping and there wasn’t a colt he couldn’t get by. He was asked by many to break colts and put miles on horses, and he was always willing to teach others how to rope and ride, especially his nieces and nephews. Shot’s work experience took him to many different places. Some of those experiences included riding cutting horses for Willy Klingbeil, ranching for Floyd &amp; Sharon Bryant at Box T, Glen Nutter and Mark Nutter, Blaine and Helen Sherman at Sherman Well Drilling, and Greg Perrett Construction. After retiring to town, he was always day working for whoever needed him to come help. He found joy in being able to help his friends and neighbors.

&nbsp;If riding wasn’t on his to-do list for the day, you would find Shot chasing coyotes with hounds, fishing, playing cards and Yahtzee, golfing, attending sporting events to watch the kids, or drinking beer with his buddies.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Shot was proceeded into death by his biological father Charles, his mother, Genevieve, Uncles - DeWayne Erny, Leroy Erny, Ernest “Speed” Erny, his half-sister Tammy From and nephew-in-law Jason Arensdorf. Left to remember the memories of him are Cindy Kenton, half-sister Cathy (Jim) Williams, Tagg (Jayme) From, Samantha From, Amanda From, Clayton Allen, Clint Allen, Brenda (Lee) Nelson, Jennifer Arensdorf, Jason (Lisa) Williams, several great nieces and nephews and too many friends to name them all.&nbsp;

Shot Kenton (1951-2024)

Willard Gene Harbeson, 87, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the Perkins County Community Hospital in Grant, Nebraska.

Gene was born on January 19, 1937, in Madrid, Nebraska, to Archie Willard and Esther Naomi (Hanson) Harbeson.

Gene grew up in Elsie, attended the Elsie grade school then the Elsie High School. After graduating in 1954, he enlisted in the US Navy and served until November 1957. During his time in the Navy he served on a supply ship and two ammunition ships, the Wrangell and the Mauna Loa. While serving on the Mauna Loa the ship caught fire in New York harbor. The ship was towed out to sea; if it had exploded it would have leveled lower Manhattan.

Gene met his future wife, Joan McMail, while he was stationed in New York. They were married on November 22, 1958, at Mary, Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY. Gene and Joan moved from Brooklyn to Oakland, New Jersey, where they lived for over 30 years. Gene was employed by the Bendix Corporation as an electronics technician. He was very proud to have worked on the prototype guidance system for the Apollo 11 spaceflight that landed a man on the moon.

After retiring in 1996, Gene and Joan built a home outside of Elsie and moved back to Gene's hometown, where he dabbled in farming and raised about a dozen cattle.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Esther.

Gene is survived by his wife, Joan; his brothers, Earl (Sherri) of Los Angeles, Duane (Heidi) of Los Angeles, and Donald (Joan) of Elsie; nephews, Chris and Paul; niece, Heather, aunt, Lillian Hanson and special cousin, Jim Hanson.

Edward Arthur Kinish, age 77 of Brady NE, passed away Saturday August 3rd, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Ed was born on July 29, 1947 in Broken Bow, NE to Arthur Edward and Lily Barbara (Weinman) Kinish. He was the sixth born of seven children; Barbara, Angela, Lois, Virginia, Sarah and Karen. He was the beloved “Uncle Eddie” to many nieces and nephews he grew up alongside. Ed said he always felt very close to and loved by his family who was also very proud of him.

Ed was married to Karen M. Goodhand on April 8, 1972 in Fort Monmouth Chapel in Eatontown, NJ and they had one child, Tonia, two years later in Okinawa Japan where he was stationed during Vietnam.

Ed was fortunate that God allowed him the many talents he had naturally as well as the education he got along the way through life. He was born to be a farmer and rancher. He graduated high school in Merna, Nebraska. He enlisted in the Army National Guard when he was nineteen and then went active duty in the Army when he was 23. In the United States Army he trained and became a mechanical communications expert. After discharging from the Army in 1978, Ed made his home in Brady and remained in the National Guard. He attended Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) for an associate degree in HVAC and had his own business for about 15 years, then later received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology from UNK.&nbsp;

Ed taught high school for about 5 minutes but mainly taught second-year classes for the HVAC degree at MPCC from the time he graduated for about 25 years. He said he liked to teach those who WANTED to learn. Ed worked and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad the last 20 years of his “official working” years. But everyone who knows Ed knows that his UP job was just to be able to feed his “hobby” that he started after graduating from UNK and after Tonia left home. That was his affinity for miniature Black Angus cows called American Aberdeen Angus. Karen started the herd by adopting a bottle calf from the sale barn one day and at the peak of their operation Ed and Karen had over 250 head of “pets” to feed and love and take care of. They both love animals and they were very attentive parents. Ed has friends throughout the country that have cows from his herd. Besides the cattle preoccupation Ed also loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, “shootin the breeze” and just generally being with people.

Ed was a farmer, a son, a husband, a father, a teacher, a doctor to God’s creatures, a soldier, a carpenter, a mechanic, even a musician if necessary to lighten a mood.&nbsp;

Ed was a good person who cared about family and friends and would help them out during their time of need. Many have expressed that Ed helped them out in so many ways. He’d lend an ear and a solution if they had a problem and he’d help them fix their dilemma when he could and get them back “on the road of life again.” He always said that people need second chances and he helped when he could to see that people received those second chances.&nbsp;

He did not know a stranger, and if you were his friend, that friendship lasted forever. He was loved and respected more than he ever knew. He finished what he started and that is a life well lived.&nbsp;

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters (Sarah and Virginia), three brothers-in-law (Floyd, Mike and Bill), two nieces (Diane and Kandi), one great-grandchild (Axl), and many other friends and family.&nbsp;

Ed leaves behind his wife of 52 years, his daughter Tonia N. Beck, Grandchildren Sydney M. Ostronic (Tyler), Sofia T. Beck, James P. Beck Jr., Jacob C. Beck, Thomas R. Beck, and great-grandchildren Aislynn E. Ostronic and Riona L. Ostronic.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Gothenburg; Monday, August 12, 2024, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present. A Rosary will take place at 7:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10:00 am with Father Joseph Ravi officiating.

Interment will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Clifford Gene Higgins, 88 died Friday, August 2, 2024 at his home in Alliance, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Clifford was born on October 15, 1935 in Yuma, Colorado to Robert and Ruby (House) Higgins. A sister, Deloris and two brothers, Robert Higgins and Henry Russell followed Clifford. Clifford received his GED in Alliance, Nebraska in 1980 alongside his wife Nedra.

On May 20, 1957, Clifford married Nedra Dykes. To this union, two children were born, Alberta (Higgins) Maddox and Michael Higgins.

Clifford's hobbies included bowling, fishing, hunting and playing the lottery. Clifford enjoyed his mornings spent at local convenience stores having coffee and visiting with&nbsp;

He built his&nbsp;daughter Alberta's first home as well as his and Nedra's home that they lived in until his passing.

Preceding Clifford in death were his parents along with his sister and brother-in-law Delores and Chet Hampton, his brother Robert Higgins, father-in-law and mother-in-law&nbsp;Raymond and Betty Dykes and sister-in-law Hazel Livingston.

Clifford Gene Higgins (1935 - 2024)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dr. Dwight L. Larson, age 99, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.&nbsp; He as born on February 25, 1925 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Joseph and Lucille (Keller) Larson.

Dwight grew up in Green River, WY and graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1943. He entered the US Army and served with distinction in WWII, earning a Purple Heart for his wounds. After returning from the war, Dwight attended the University of Wyoming from 1946-1947. He then transferred to the University of Nebraska and then on to medical school in Omaha from 1949-1953. He met and married the love of his life, Shirley Holsten in Omaha on December 12, 1953, and together they had three daughters: Leanne, Jane, and Sandra. Dwight started his career at Bryan Hospital in Omaha from 1953 to 1954. He then opened his own practice in Chappell, NE and later moved to North Platte where he opened his practice there. He was in practice for 34 years and a member of the Great Plains Regional Medical staff and past president and program director of the Lincoln County Medical Society, the St. Mary’s Hospital Staff, and the Tri-County Medical Society. He was a charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In 1966, Dwight developed and taught the first childbirth education classes in North Platte. He was named Nebraska Family Physician of the year in 1988. Dwight was a past Chairman of the Arts and Humanities Committee, Past Board member of the North Platte Development Corporation, and past member of the North Platte Community Concert Association. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley; brothers, Grant and Sherwood Larson; niece, Stacy Hutson; and nephew, Jim Plate.

Those left to celebrate his memory are daughters, Leanne (Bruce) Elder of Kearney, Jane Larson of Kearney, and Sandra (Dirk) Gray of McCook; grandchildren, Chad (Ashley) Elder, Sarah Polter, Jared Polter, Kade Gray, and Joel Gray; great-granddaughters, Emma Elder and Quinn Elder; brother in law, Robert “Bob” (Mary) Holsten sister in law of Carmel, Indiana; nieces, Becky Plate, Sara Clark, and Alison (Rick) Bond; nephew, Jeff (Donna) Holsten; along with other extended family and friends.

Dr. Dwight L. Larson  (1925-2024)

DARRELL "BUCK" BASSETT, 88, of Ogallala, NE, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Buck was born June 11, 1936, at Geneva, Nebraska to Frederick and Marie (Lewis) Bassett. He attended school in Geneva before transferring to Ogallala during his freshman year, where he graduated in the class of 1954.

Buck attended the University of Wyoming at Laramie before entering the US Army. A couple of months after his discharge, Buck married Jacque Mecke at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala. Their 65-year marriage was blessed in innumerable ways, including five children: Matt, Jane, Marty, John, and Teresa.

Buck worked at First National Bank of Ogallala for several years before taking a position at Pro Oil, where he primarily worked in bookkeeping, a position he held for twenty-three years.

Buck joined the Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department in 1963 and enjoyed an impactful 43 years of service to the department and the surrounding community. In short order, Buck would hold nearly every office in every existing committee or board. He was elected President a year after he joined the department, a position he would hold a total of 14 times. Buck held numerous leadership roles, including Vice President, Captain, Treasurer, Executive Board Member, and Assistant Chief, before being appointed Fire Chief in 1992. He was also active in the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters Association, the Nebraska Fire Chiefs Association, and the Southwest Mutual Aid District, advocating for fire-related legislation and communication improvements. Buck was honored with numerous accolades over the years, including the prestigious "McQueen Award" and the VFIS "Firemanship Award," which he won twice. In 2005, he was inducted into the Ogallala Hall of Fame by the department.

Buck spent many years coaching youth baseball, forming countless connections with parents and children, and memorably rewarding his players with cinnamon bears for their hard work and achievements. He was a dedicated supporter of high school athletics, volunteering as a clockkeeper for wrestling and volleyball and serving as a line judge. He was actively involved in both the public and St. Luke's school boards, the St. Luke's Parish Council, and the City Council, where he had served multiple terms as mayor.

Buck was an avid Yankees fan. When he wasn't at church, he could reliably be seen sporting a Yankees cap if he wasn't representing the Ogallala Indians or the Huskers. He was a member of the Elks and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Buck was a longtime member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, where he often served as a lector. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.

Buck was a man of many hats, but his heart was perpetually grounded in service. He valued hard work and integrity, two things he modeled. He was a loving, committed husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend. He was faithful to the vows he took in life and was a meaningful example to many.

Buck was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Dorothy and Donna, and his brothers Dean and Donald.

Survivors include his wife, Jacque, of Ogallala; children, Matt (Mary Jo) Bassett of Omaha, Jane (Ray) Diaz of Ogallala, Marty (Jackie) Bassett of Mesa, AZ; John (Janice) Bassett of Gastonia, NC; Teresa (Brian) Bradney of North Platte; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; 4 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Norma Bassett and Shirley Bassett; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 </figure>DARRELL "BUCK" BASSETT, 88, of Ogallala, NE, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.Buck was born June 11, 1936, at Geneva, Nebraska to Frederick and Marie (Lewis) Bassett. He attended school in Geneva before transferring to Ogallala during his freshman year, where he graduated in the class of 1954.Buck attended the University of Wyoming at Laramie before entering the US Army. A couple of months after his discharge, Buck married Jacque Mecke at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala. Their 65-year marriage was blessed in innumerable ways, including five children: Matt, Jane, Marty, John, and Teresa.Buck worked at First National Bank of Ogallala for several years before taking a position at Pro Oil, where he primarily worked in bookkeeping, a position he held for twenty-three years.Buck joined the Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department in 1963 and enjoyed an impactful 43 years of service to the department and the surrounding community. In short order, Buck would hold nearly every office in every existing committee or board. He was elected President a year after he joined the department, a position he would hold a total of 14 times. Buck held numerous leadership roles, including Vice President, Captain, Treasurer, Executive Board Member, and Assistant Chief, before being appointed Fire Chief in 1992. He was also active in the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters Association, the Nebraska Fire Chiefs Association, and the Southwest Mutual Aid District, advocating for fire-related legislation and communication improvements. Buck was honored with numerous accolades over the years, including the prestigious "McQueen Award" and the VFIS "Firemanship Award," which he won twice. In 2005, he was inducted into the Ogallala Hall of Fame by the department.Buck spent many years coaching youth baseball, forming countless connections with parents and children, and memorably rewarding his players with cinnamon bears for their hard work and achievements. He was a dedicated supporter of high school athletics, volunteering as a clockkeeper for wrestling and volleyball and serving as a line judge. He was actively involved in both the public and St. Luke's school boards, the St. Luke's Parish Council, and the City Council, where he had served multiple terms as mayor.Buck was an avid Yankees fan. When he wasn't at church, he could reliably be seen sporting a Yankees cap if he wasn't representing the Ogallala Indians or the Huskers. He was a member of the Elks and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.Buck was a longtime member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, where he often served as a lector. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.Buck was a man of many hats, but his heart was perpetually grounded in service. He valued hard work and integrity, two things he modeled. He was a loving, committed husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend. He was faithful to the vows he took in life and was a meaningful example to many.Buck was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Dorothy and Donna, and his brothers Dean and Donald.Survivors include his wife, Jacque, of Ogallala; children, Matt (Mary Jo) Bassett of Omaha, Jane (Ray) Diaz of Ogallala, Marty (Jackie) Bassett of Mesa, AZ; John (Janice) Bassett of Gastonia, NC; Teresa (Brian) Bradney of North Platte; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; 4 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Norma Bassett and Shirley Bassett; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.A memorial has been established in memory of Buck. &nbsp;Roger Guggenmos was born January 6, 1961, to Walter “Bill” Guggenmos and Ramona (Holmes) in Sargent. His parents, brother, and sister lived on their family ranch in Brewster. Roger graduated from Dunning High School in 1979. He completed some coursework at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Hastings Central Community College. He then dedicated the remainder of his life to working and maintaining the Guggenmos Ranch. Through this partnership, the ranch was later given the title, “Guggenmos River Ranch.” On April 8, 1989, he married Cynthia Rooney of Ojai, California. They met through mutual friends at the 1982 Guggenmos family reunion. They carried on this tradition and hosted several more family reunions at the ranch together. They were married 35 years and had 4 children and 3 granddaughters together.

&nbsp;Roger lived a life of service to the ranch and his community. He served over 40 years as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician for Blaine County. He additionally had served as the Blaine County Commissioner since 2013. He was a member of the Region 26 Council and Mid Planes Behavioral Health Board. Those who knew Roger know that he often went out of his way to help neighbors and animals in need. Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the National Rifleman Association. He had a passion for aviation, enjoyed attending air shows, and owned his own plane which was most often used to serve his community members.
